I've repleced the aftermarket carb (Rochester Monojet) that was on my 48 Dodge Town Sedan when I bought it, with a Ball & Carter 1bbl.

Good news: It starts right up (no spraying starting fluid in the carb like before)

Bad news: It races instantly to a really high rpm

I've adjusted the idle screw to run as lean as possible, but I don't have the linkage running to the carb yet. Could this be the cause of my racing engine? Or is there another adjustment on the carb that I don't know about?

  4. the B&B's have spring tension behind the accelerator pump that causes them to full throttle if not hooked to linkage and a STRONG return spring. I have a pair of them on my '50 Dodge, DOUBLE the fun!!

Thanks Moparsled, I'll hook the linkage up, and get a return srping before I try again.
