Two new Alliance vendors to report:

    1. Restoration Supply Company. These fellas carry a lot of hard to find do-dadds and just plain good parts at decent prices. Alliance members get 10% off.

    2. Cone Engineering. Exhaust experts with some really stuff... 5% off and free shipping on orders over $99.

I've dealt with RSC many times and they have great stuff and are good to deal with. Just a couple of reasons more to be an Alliance member !

RSC shipped me a catalog and I received it today. Neat company, but I kinda' wonder how they received my address for the catalog.

Prolly through the alliance spread sheet. They asked permission first. In the future, if you would like to avoid such a thing just click off the option in the "manage your account" section.

That said, they wouldn't be in the alliance program if they weren't reputable.

  12. I received a catalog also and was wondering the same thing. But I guess asked and answered.

The options I have clicked says I might get a private message from moderators from time to time. I don't see an option anywhere that says Alliance vendors can send my work address postal mail.

Where do we "click off the option" for snail mail in the manage your account section.

...and stuff happens, even with alliance vendors.
(one in mind that wouldn't get back to people for 6 months, freaking people out making them think their money was stolen, and he got his alliance vendor status taken away.)

You're putting the reputation of the HAMB in the hands of not just the company as a whole, but of every single individual employee of the alliance vendors on your list. Someone could quit, take the lists, and sell 'em off.

Sure, that could happen... However, that would be followed by a pretty stiff lawsuit... All alliance vendors sign their life away that no data will ever be sold or given away under any cir***stances.

I've only had one problem with an alliance vendor thus far and action was taken pretty swiftly. I've got no problems putting my name on the line for them. They take the same chance with little ole me.

I got ya opted out homie.

All of this said, I'm starting to think mailings in general are a bad idea. I don't think I'll allow them at all anymore. I just fear how people may take it... I, for one, can't stand junk mail... and some might see it as just that.

ha, i got 2 catalogs, i guess they doubled me up cause of the alliance deal. they are great to deal with and sell alot of their stuff to other vendors, going strait to them cuts out the middle man in alot of cases and helps out a family owned and ran buisness. if you're ever in the escondido area and have some time to kill stop by out there, they've got a good collection of vintage cars, mostly teens/early 20's and you can check out the stuff in the catalog in person

    Thanks man.

I wouldn't mind a message posted in an Alliance Member area saying "Want a free catalog? Sign up here" Then you feel like you get to pick and choose more. My catalog came to my work mailbox at a corporate office and I got nervous that my boss saw it and that I'm getting junk at work.

That being said, I do like Restoration Supply Company and will be happy using them!

    Thanks for listening!

personally i don't mind mailings of catalogs and such. As long as my address isn't sold to the the highest bidder to send me other **** no big deal.

  19. I didn't consider an unsolicited catalog from RSC "junk mail" --glad to have it!
I keep a filing cabinet full of catalogs from small vendors of obscure things---never know when ya might need something....unusual.

Don't react too swiftly, Meester Cochran

I just ***umed it was because I got Hemmings!

Now THAT is getting to be junk mail. Between that and every frequent flyer program trying to get me to get a credit card!!

I like the idea of a list of vendors with a check box to get a catalog from, though. Kind of like how some of the Hot Rod ilk magazines do at the end of the year.

If you look at it from the vendors point of view, they have to let us know what their product is. Id hate to see a company that has made an investment with us ( hamb alliance guys ) "wither on the vine" bacause no one knew what they had for sale. I know thats an extreme case but, they are here to support us, but they are in business to make money, I know, I know, not like Donald Trump but they still need to cover the overhead. I just sold 64 Ford and bought a 30 Ford, Id like to get all the catalogs I can get. I have a ton of work to do! :D I believe they wont sell us out , so support them by at least looking at what they have for sale.

I got a Restoration catalog today, before I even knew they were a Alliance vendor, and I got to say I was glad I did. They have some very neat items, and pieces that I need and will need in the future, glad I got the catalog.

How about the New Alliance Vendors start a post telling us who they are and what they have and then interested parties could PM them their mailing and/or email address so the Vendor will know they are safe to send the info out?

I got the RSC catalog in the mail a few days ago. Glad to get it. Even better now that I know they're an Alliance Vendor.

I don't mind the catalog or maybe a special offer for Alliance members... I know Ryan isn't going to sell this list to one of the credit car companies so that we get 2 or 3 credit card apps a day...

I don't know if it could be done, but you could use an opt in instead of opt out... that the one person that doesn't click the little box to opt out, doesn't get hacked off...

I got my RSC catalogue in the mail a few days ago. I used them years ago, kinda forgot about them until now. That's kind of the point, right, with advertising? Anyway I'm very good. Only bummer was seeing that burned fire truck on their cover - what a shame.

Alliance Vendors can send me stuff anytime, paper or e-mail.

I don't mind getting catalogs or literature keeping me up to date. What I do mind is when an alliance vendor states that they will give a certain discount but then tries to back out of it when you call to place an order. I'm not going to mention names but, Ryan, if you want to PM me we can discuss it. It just happened last week and I was going to just blow it off but then this thread came up and I thought it was a good opportunity to bring it up.
    Sorry for the rant,
    Brian

Let me finish up by saying that I have used many of the alliance vendors and have had perfect results and gotten some great deals. This is just ONE instance and is in no way a reflection of the alliance as a whole. Believe me, I consider us all lucky to have this as a resource.
