Wondering if they even made 16" Steelies with the 5x5 Bolt Pattern? I know they make them aftermarket but I don't want anything with the multi-lug pattern. If someone knows of a vehicle that came with them, please let me know. Thanks, Mike
Big Buicks may have had them also, but Caddy into the '50's I think were all 16", at least the hubcaps sure seem to be. Probably easier to find than waiting for one of the wheel companies to send them, based on some of the other threads I'm seeing on here - I should see what my '40 Roadmaster has.... I know the '37 Century we tore apart as kids (old field car, not much to remove) had 15" wheels because two of the trim rings ended up on '79 Buick rims I had on my Pontiac.
All buicks, caddys, Olds' and Pontiacs from the mid 30's to 1948 used 16" steelies with 5 on 5" bolt pattern. Some had different centers for different hubcaps and the Buicks and Caddys had a bigger center hole that the Olds and Pontiacs. My 41 Pontiac coupe came with 'em in a 4 or 4.5" width. I'm using 2 of them with big radial pickup tires on the rear of the car now.. see?
Also some astro/safari minivans, 96' impala SS, and pre 99' two wheel drive Tahoe/Yukons have a 5 on 5 rim. I had to do a ton of research a couple of months ago for these 5x5 rims for my Studebaker truck.
The '91-96 (and some pre-'91) GM B/D-bodies (Caprice, Roadmaster, Fleetwood) do have the 5x5, but all the steel wheels were 15".
There's good news and bad news! Yes, a 16X5 inch rim with the 5 on 5 inch bolt pattern exsists. But, it was only available on Packard commercial vehicles (he**** and ambulance). That's all I could find in my Hollander's Interchange.
O.T. Are you going to the Lansing cruise tonight? I'll have the shoebox there this time and I think Cadillac Bob is bringing the Lincoln and Silent Rick is bringing the '46. We usually try to park on the side street by Subway.
I have a pair of 16" x 6" rims that are 5 on 5" pattern. Not a clue what they are off though, found them at a swap meet. They are a riveted style wheel and have clips for a hubcap.
Have been looking for 16" 5x5 for my '40 Caddy 60S. What condition are yours? Are you selling them and what are you asking for them? Thanks.rgettings@cfl.rr.com
i know the late 60s very early 70s chevy trucks had 16x5 steelies but i believe theyre a rare find though and theyre 5on5
I think they were six lug LOL, this thread is almost 3 years old!!! I think I still have them at a friend of mines, I'll go look and let you know.
