My dad has raced at Ohio oval tracks for nearly 5 decades, and he, along with some of his friends (most notably **** Eder), gave me several pictures to scan and put online. If anyone is interested, head on over to http://www.2chixracing.com/vintageracing/index.htm and pour through the collection of over 100 pictures of modifieds and stock cars from the 40's through the 70's. Also, these pictures appear on the "Dayton Speedway Lives" website, along with many more vintage pix from the 30's through the 80's. Enjoy...
Great stuff!I remember some of the latemodel names and stuff, never made Dayton, tho we saw New Bremen and Tri County in both asphalt and dirt.Gotta love the name "**** Eder"
A long way from Ohio, but a lot of them certainly remind me of some of the old crates we use to beat around the track. Good times!
LOL...**** Eder.... My dad raced at New Bremen and Eldora, too. That was back in the day when you could race the same car on dirt and asphalt. Before he circle track raced, he drag raced at Kil-Kare in Xenia and Dayhio (Airport) dragstrip in Dayton, Ohio (late 50's, early 60's). He raced a 49 Ford there, and I'm currently searching for pix of it.
