I'd be cautious about the seller. No feedback, not exactly a hobby-related ID. I sent her (a mama needing allowance) a question regarding "right to use"......

This smells of a divorce sale...or a "for spite" sale.

Hopefully, it is none of the above, and just a person unloading some stuff to someone that can hopefully use them...

Why would you bid now, with 6 days left to run up the bidding?! Some guy is sitting there thinking "do I want it? Do I NEED it? Hmmm....Oh, what the hell--I'll bid." Three or four guys sit there doing that, and pretty soon the bid goes way up. Bid LATE in the auction, so you don't give guys a day or two to justify and rationalize spending money on it. It keeps the auctions lower. then, at the end of the auction, it puts YOU in control of whether or not you want to own something. With a minute left, you get to decide how bad you want something, and put in that bid.

    Oh man, Oh man...
hmmmm...I guess these are the patterns that the M/T Ford Hemi T-bolt motor was derived from too? I see an intake, but not the cylinder heads???

i bid what i want to pay when i see the item the first time. it could be 1 day into the auction or 1 minute left. if you bid your max, and it goes over..then it goes over.

i win a lot of auctions that way.

Unbelievable stuff here. A Pontiac Hemi is to die for, and an Olds Hemi? Dang! Plus, the Ford Thunderbolt stuff isn't exactly common either! I want these to be used by a foundry now!

Early bidding does nothing but drive the price up. This stuff has a reserve so all this early bidding is just pretend. The real players come late, and above reserve if they really want it, and are willing to pay.

    'Flake and all -

In 1968-69 I worked for an M/T subsidiary called American Speed & Custom in Garden Grove, CA. It was a speed shop and factory outlet for M/T overuns, closeouts, etc. They didn't use the M/T name because all the other shops they sold to would have pitched a huge ***** about having to compete with the M/T name - and at closeout prices.

Anyway, it was located in the front of a pretty large building - the old Garden Grove Post Office as a matter of fact - and in back there were dozens and dozens of giant containers filled to the brim with these same sort of wooden mold masters for just about everything the M/T company had ever cast. In addition, there were literally tons of hardware items - linkage parts, nuts and bolts, and so on.

Of course, I had no idea what would become of the stuff. I grabbed a few big handfulls of various linkage items (still have a bunch of it), but I suspect the bulk of it eventually ended up in the the dump.

I never saw this in person, but several guys who frequented the M/T complex in Long Beach said Mickey had virtually every car he'd ever built (and there were plenty) stored there - "stacked like cordwood" - was the expression they used. All his trick stuff from Indy and Bonneville, Pontiac and Ford drag cars, and on and on.

It was also reported that there were stacks upon stacks of OHC 427 Fords, early aluminum small block Chevies, as well as Pontiacs and who knows what. All the swag Mickey had talked the detroit companies out of over the years.

I wonder if his son- or family - is hoarding any of this stuff? If so, it has to be worth many millions.

Seler with 0 feedback, short descriptions. Smells fishy to me. Unless you can inspect them in person.

Here is an explanation offered by a friend who ***ociated with M/T when The friend worked for Iskenderian....The casting stuff belonged to the customer and was probably maintained by the foundry...probably a place called American or
All American in Santa Fe CA...That foundry did most of the cast work for the "names" of the time....Weiand, Edelbrock, etc. The foundry was sold when its owner p***ed and these things were probably "lost" for all this time.
Here's the problem I forsee.....M/T has offspring and family who are VERY protective of the name, the cars, the parts, in short, the legacy....rightfully so. Unless this stuff is being offer by a M/T heir or family member, you can almost bet that the auction will be pulled under threat of legal action, and this stuff will revert back to the family.....either surrendered or by legal proceedings. We can all dream though can't we?

As a retired detective, I'm fascinated by the whole M/T caper. Now this stuff shows up......wonder if this stuff and the Buick mentioned earlier have a direct connection to M/T's sister. She was the driving force that kept LAPD and the Sheriff's office in an active phase investigation. Now with the court action and the conviction of M/T's "partner" maybe she has decided to move on, clean house, and recover some of her expense outlay from the case.
