Here's a rare bird. Note the bubbletop and the balance of the roof and rear pillar with the teardrop side window.

oh yeah i usually give jimmy shit about the jalopy shoppe name everytime i'm out there but the billet high end stuff obviously pays the bills and they can do a great job on this style as well as the trad stuff

  5. Justin B thank you for the pictures at Jalopy.
The coupe looks really good in bare steel, and the lines of the back of the body to trunk area are very pleasing to the eye. I am not so keen on the shape of the top back corner of the door though, IMHO it needs more of a curve like a 36 3w rather than the kind of square set up that it has. But hey as long as he's happy thats all that matters eh?:)

Do you know what sort of brass section has been used for the side trim, and where to get it?

jimmy, who works at the jalopy shoppe is on here as rogue, if he'd spent less time combing his hippy hair :) and got on here more often he could let you know alot more about the build. i'm pretty sure the brass side trim just started out as half round material that jimmy shaved down to fit and tapped some holes on the back to hold it in place.

for the trad guys that's jimmy's rpu in the front of the coupe.

As of a couple years ago, Earl still had this car and was still bringing it to car shows. He's the original owner, and had it chopped & qtr windows filled before WWII.

I read about Earl and his car 25 years ago and never forgot about it. I remember he had other interesting cars along the way but he never let go of the forty. glad to hear he is still out there hot rodding.

A friend of mine has his 37 turned into a 3 window by Al Swedberg, but he died before it was finished. The car has great lines, but it's sitting in a garage, by the beach, waiting for someone to finish it. Too many high-end parts and work done for me to afford, but it does look good.

To follow up on my question from before. Is it the same way with tudor doors from earlier and later fords as well? Thinking 35-36 and 41-48 in this instance.

  15. JackShaft,
You will find that nearly all tudors have longer doors than their fordor brothers on all years. This is to enable easier access to the back seats. 'Club' coupes also had a longer door than 'business' coupes as they had a back seat not just a shelf as in 'business' coupes. The roof profile of 'Club' and 'Business' coupes are also different.:)
