the way I think of it is, there are hundresd of other car builders that should get Billy Lane's space in that magazine. Jesus doesnt he get enough press in The Horse??? I mean he's talented and all, but he builds bikes.

So issue #5 is out? Damn, that's strange because I just had a dream the other night of finding it at the newsstands.

How come I never heard of that guy until the OSR crew started hanging from his sack? The way they tell it youd think the guy was Ed Roth or Barris. [IMG]

I like my old cars looking like they came from Mad Max... thus I like OSR. I got to see this truck at the COlumbus Easyriders show, and I spent more time looking at the truck than the bikes.

So...you have not even seen the issue or read it and your already PMSing over it? You have no Idea what the article says and already crying like a bitch? It makes me sorry that I even bothered handing out those issues to people in Idaho. NEVER AGAIN.

Hey Mutley......Bo Huff has never heard of you either nor have I.....but that does not stop me from thinking what an asshole you are. Are you some kind of measuring stick of all things cool? WOW some tow truck driver from Fresno has never heard of it..well then, it must not be cool. I had no Idea you were Fresno's cultural expert!

Back in the day the Barris brothers were covered in nearley every little book. I wonder if as many people that complain on the HAMB would have complained back then about having to look at some bitchin rides.

I think some of you girls have nothing better in life to do than grab ass and complain. So now Billy Lane sucks huh? Have you ever met the guy? Have you ever spoken with him? He's one of the more down to earth fellas you could meet. Yeah I guess he's got no talent. I guess he's not allowed to be in a magazine that he works for. I guess he outta stick to Bikes and let the cool guys like you tell everyone else about cars.

Hey you hillbillies in ARK: Stop humpin' yer sisters.... an'lurn how ta spayell.

Every damm issue that comes out, some enlightened group thinking dolt on the HAMB has to complain and cry about it. I think some of you outta call Dr. Laura......maybe she will help with your issues. I convinced some of you wear your ignorance on your sleeve like it's a kind of badge of honor. What a shame.

dude, buick59, take it easy man. jeez, you sure are letting these guys get to you. You let the guys over a OSR's board get to you too. It should be very apparent that no matter what is done, someone will bitch about it.

Now, I'm not saying I dig everything that is contained in OSR but personally I think it is one of the better mags for traditional rods/customs readily available that is affordable. Although some of the butchered up rust buckets are just nauseatingly brutal to look at; I have found that is the case with most magazines, imo. I haven't seen issue #5 yet so I can not comment on it's contents. OSR unfortunately gave itself a reputation by running two consecutive issue's with Bo Huff vehicles in them and now the mag has been labeled. I didn't like it too much either, but I disliked the lack of a tech story much more. It's still a young mag and I do believe they have quite a bit on their hands, keeping that statement in mind I think they have done a fine job so far.

Not only that but if someone doesn't like the magazine they don't need to buy it or read it.

I know who Bo Huff is and have seen his cars. he does some nice work.
Just because Billy Lane works for the magazine or is your buddy or whatever doesnt automatically make him the king of all rat rods.
In the world of magazines, the deal is whatever is easiest and cheapest before deadline is usually what is done. So of course it is a hell of a lot easier to feature a car from a guy who works for the magazine no matter who he is.
If he's famous and can sell more magazines for you to a wider audience, hell yeah! ...it's about making money!

but you know that there are 50 guys on this board who can build cars better in their sleep... and that was my argument, not how cool anybody was... and to talk about grammar: OL SKOOL RODZ... gimme a fucking break...

Then maybe those 50 guys on this board should send in their cars to be featured in the magazine in the future and quit bitching?

I also heard there's some picture of a drunk PakiMexiNegro in there too. That useless asshole needs to be destroyed.
Fucking OSR, what a blight huh?
A bunch of inbred yahoos, that's what they are, I bet you guys could put out a much better magazine.
    I'll sit back and wait.

bo huff deserves to be in the spotlight....he builds sick cars.if i read the back-posts i'd see whose nuts you're swingin off....there's plenty of favorites, and rockstars, and ass-kissin around here too,but i'm not bitchin about it because it's COUNTER-PRODUCTIVE.cut the mag some slack for chrissakes they're new .....and then you act like hearing about some sick car builder for the first time is a bad thing .jeez ....

  17. You know its like this guys. Mike is a good guy he puts a lot of hard work into his job at OSR. He is getting a foot in the door & paid to do something he loves which is shoot photos of cars. Now who cares what Billy is doing and such. The issue with Bo, well do you really think Mike has anything to do with when they print an article. He shoots and sends them in. Maybe HE would have waited a few issues in between, maybe they should have or maybe not, what I think is unimportant. But it brings a guy down to always hear negative talk every time an issue comes out. Now that being said I know some of you are thinking he should be able to take the good with the bad, yes thats true, but a guy has to vent so be it. The mag is good, not the best but good, but its new & all things new need some fine tuning.

If some of you don't like seeing the folks mentioned earlier in OSR, then you had better stock up on Midol, because we might be in a future issue.
And we are damn glad that Buick59 is taking the time and effort to make that happen.....from our perspective, it is a much appreciated gesture.
Why hasn't anyone mentioned the fact that Mike's photography work is raising the bar as to the graphic content of the mag?

Yeah, Mike you shoot good shots. How about using your pull at the mag and have them loose their stupid "rat rod" cartoon "poster" spread and use some of your shots instead that I can pin up on the wall. Or have them let you shoot some pin up/car shots for that page. Anything but that worthless waste of space cartoon.

I like OSR. Yeah, it can be pretty cheesy, but that's part of it's charm. Sure there's usually some stuff in there that isn't interesting to me, but that's the same in any mag. The majority of the content has interesting cars and there are some good tech articles. I'll take a little cheese on top of that any day.

As for Billy Lane, the bikes he builds ar not really to my liking, but I do like his attitude toward building them. Plus, I met him in Vegas, he seemed like a nice enough guy.

As for Bo Huff, Muttley, if you never heard of him, it must be because you live under a rock in Fresno.

As for the WACKY PAKI centerfold, it looks like it's time for Nads to dust off the old "Cabana Boy" outfit. [IMG]

  25. If there's not another installment on the Bo Huff legacy prhaps there's an update on what Jimmy White has done since the last two issues. [IMG]

If it wasn't for OSR, I'd probably be lowriding my '37, its just more common with a 4 door. When I started reading that rag I knew what I wanted to build, a low buck rod, that I could have fun with, and show others that an old car isnt out of their reach. Like it was stated earlier, its still too early to be bashing a magazine thats only on their 5th issue. Anyone seen the 5th issue of Rod and Custom?, was it perfect? probably not. One thing for sure, atleast its not another ricer or wanna-be-HOTROD magazine. Speaking of HOTROD mag. they should get back to their roots alittle more, just my thought.

just to be featured in the readers section because of time constraints or because they dont attend the right shows.

I am not knocking just OSR but all magazines in general. and I work for a non car related publication so I have a least a bit of a grasp on what Im talking about...

  30. Well I just picked up issue #5, and let me just tell you there is no BO in it, but he is a friend so it doesnt matter to me. But the one thing you guys will say WTF is that dumb ass Chevy I think its a 51 with the back window filled in. Why?? [IMG] Thats all I gotta say, why?? But the whole issue looks good. I havent read it yet, only the article on my friends ( and fellow Hamber's Loudpedal & JobCorps) the Throttles of SLC.. Its a real good article and the photos Mike took were outstanding. Only one complaint where is my pic?? I was there Mike.. [IMG] I see a corner of my car,he,he [IMG] Kuttys spread looks good as well, I have a special seat waiting for me at home to read it. The mag is doing good, now if they can somehow recall the pages with that no back window custom chevy. [IMG] Looks good Mike and Nelson if your reading this post..
