One of the local paint supply stores, A.L. Pavey of North Canton, is sponsoring a House of Kolor paint workshop with legendary HOK guru himself Jon Kosmoski. It is going to be Wednesday May 21, 2008 at Hoover High School in Canton, Ohio. I know people that have gone to his seminars before and really got a lot out of them. I am excited to go and thought some of you may be interested in attending as well. Here is a flyer with all of the info: Contact **** or Jane at Pavey's for a ticket. Their phone number is 330.494.1405. See you there!
Those are pretty fun chevy girl.. Jon puts on few cl***es up are way every year. Its pretty funny how he talks down HOK so much and he is like the sole creator of it??
he is the one who pioneered the colorshift paints, his Mystic was on the Mustang Cobras. he is the paint guru hands down!!!
I'd love to go to this, but it won't happen on a weeknite. Dammit, why couldn't it be a Saturday or Sunday.
I went to there seminar 13 years ago and picked up allot of got to know info on kandy's .. also just about every basic paint and body techniques for the custom paint Industry.... you cant miss it if ya do custom paint work!
I can't paint for diddly but I am off. Sure would be interesting and anything would be a benefit for me. $25 is cheap also.
You two could carpool I'll ask at the seminar if he has any upcoming seminars and if so post a schedule on here. It said on one website he did like 35-50 of these a year.
A few years back when I was still living in the Detroit area, I saw his seminar at Ididit. Very informative.
I attended that same seminar.Jon definitely has a way of getting across the important points of his talks.Don't sit in the first row or turn down your hearing aid because he can be quite loud. I don't even do any spray work anymore and I got a ton of info from it.
I thougt I would pull this up to the top again, just a little over a week away! The flyer said advanced tickets only, so be sure to call and let them know if you plan to come. See you there!
Killer-d and I will be there. It's a bit of a drive, but on this side of the states you don't get to see Kosmoski very often. Looking forward to it!
I took in one of his seminars years ago in Vancouver, Canada. Excellent. I would do another one in a minute if he came anywhere close. You won't be disappointed. Pat.
Very true and you STILL cannot buy that paint unless you are repairing a Mustang painted in that color. As I understand it,you have to supply BASF with the VIN of the car you are working on and approximately how much paint is required. Thought that ended until I was talking recently with one of my customers and he had one in the shop for repairs. He couldn't believe the grief he had to go through to get the paint.
Can you videotape the whole thing? I'm really pissed I can't go. Tell him to do a seminar in Jersey then bat your eyes at him. Pleeeeaaase??!!?!?
I will do both of those things. I'll find out his schedule of upcoming seminars post it here on the HAMB. I'll miss you boys though!
You're the best! You and Denise need to come out here for Lead East. It is a great wknd and I guarantee you guys will love it. Hell, you can even stay with us.
Had a great time last night at the seminar. Learned lots and met a couple HAMBers as well. I asked about a schedule for future seminars and Jon said he was on summer break until September. Once his schedule is completed for next fall/winter he said it would be on the website. I'm ***uming its this one... http://www.houseofkolor.com/hok/news/HOKclinicsched.jsp HAMB pic with Jon. L-R: WhoDoYouFink (Brad), Tin Indian (Matt sqaured), ChevyGirlRox (me!), Jon Kosmoski, Whiskeyrunner (Matt) and Killer D (Darren). A couple photos of Jon demonstrating various techniques: Explaining how to paint a car using constant straight lines, "I am a robot, I am a robot!" Thanks to Jon for coming to Canton and to Pavey's for sponsoring. Definitely worth the price of admission!
It was good stuff. I learned alot. One thing i loved, though was Jon's style of "lecturing", he'd be talking along then all of a sudden you'd think someone ticked him off or something 'cause he'd just shout out the last few words of a sentence. Accenting the high points I guess. hehehe. Anyway if anyone ever has the chance, definetly check him out.
Thats a very generous offer. It's an event I've always wanted to attend but being so close to Speed Week and the HAMB Drags, we'll see. Megan and I will talk this weekend and get back to you. Thanks xoxoxo
