ya know it would be KOOL if the hamb did a special edition old school rod (hot wheel)...could be a great suport for the H.A.M.B...........just a thought
I can remember ordering that that Hot Wheels club chrome Mustang and hardly waiting for the mail to arrive each day. sort of reminds me of that Christmas story kid hardly waiting for that decoder ring. I think that a special edition is possible;Norwalk raceway here in Ohio has Hot Wheels with their name on them. $20.00
I have a few of the 100% ones.. I like the detail, along with maybe 30 or so regular ones. though I have packed them all in a box now. I do have an interesting vintage HOT WHEEL story though. my buddy passed away about 15 years ago. about 2 years ago I was in the old neighborhood and saw his mom had the house up for sale so I stopped by. she was having a garage sale the next day, and there on the table in the garage was his case of original 67-72 or so HOT WHEELS. she was going to sell them for $1.00 each! these were all mint condition wrapped in tissue paper. there was 48 cars with the buttons and case. I sold them for her one at a time on ebay and got $1700.00. I bet someone could have bought the whole case for 20 bucks.
I have lots...and a LOT of the "Cars" cars too.... Looking for the Mario Andretti one if anyone has one thats not ePay money..
I just packed up about 300 or so still in blister packs and another 100 loose ones to put into long term storage- I haven't added to the collection in about 10 years and got tired of them hanging on the wall - next time they see light they will be for sale. Wife says time to downsize ( not counting the 100 +/- nascar diecast that got put away several years ago.) oh yeah then there's the rubber tire ashtrays, the bottle collection, the licence plates , etc....... you get the drift?
I dont collect them, but my Mom's got all mine from when I was a kid packed up somewhere along with a couple of miles of orange track. After reading the post about getting big money for them, maybe I'll get her to find them for me. My daughter got one of the Sizzlers figure-8 tracks for Christmas this year. Those were good for hours of fun when your 7-8 and trapped indoors on a cold, rainy day. Anyone remember the car/human/whatever things? C They were called Hot Rodneys maybe? I've still got a couple of those around somewhere. Hotwheels also did some other stuff too-I remember some bigger dragsters that had a string you pulled and they would take off down the orange track-Those were called HotShots.
I've been collecting about 12 years got way too many. The car/humans were called Farbs four were released Myles Ahead, Hot Rodney, Catchup and Hy Gear. I've got lots of extras hot wheels PM me if you are looking for some thing.
Awwww. Let's stir this up a bit. I am a collector of all kinds of bright and shiny bits and pieces. So I appreciate the urge. And I have a few of the little cars myself, mostly from here, there or cereal boxes. And I know a lot of people were into HW before they got their driver's license. However, this is a traditional hot rod message board and it's getting harder and harder to find the traditional hot rod threads, let alone keep them within sight on the top ten pages or so of messages. So, with all due respect, I'd ask that those of you with Hot Wheel dreams move your discussion elsewhere and leave the HAMB to the hotrods. There, stirred enough?
I think if it weren't for HotWheels, i would not be into real cars today. Still got alot of my originals from my childhood, funny what we hold on to.
i still have all mine from childhood, started collecting until they started coming out with SO many new ones. to much to keep up with......
I guess I was a big collector. I sold my collection several years ago for $18,000.00 and the guy got a good deal.
i sold my collection and paid cash for first my house. back when i was a little fellow i would not open any of the pink hot wheels and just put them away in the top of my closet (who wants to play with a pink car). thru the years i kept buying them always in pairs (play with one and kept the other one unopened) and then when they started the first editions and stuff for the collectors, i would hit all of the wally worlds and toy stores picking thru cases. but like a lot of you guys know its no fun collecting them anymore, too many first editions and variations, also no specifications on the number of treasure hunts. i still catch myself looking for cars every once in a while but i never buy, to me the fun ended in 1997 thats when i sold my collection.
I have a few but am only now interested in the red line hot rods as I played with mine as a kid and did what kids do best with toys I killed them. If any one wants to sell the red line 32vicky, 36coupe, 31woodie a tee I would be interested but no mint investment types just looking in kool old toys that my kid can play with.
Like everything in life its more fun to take it out and play with it. Back in the day we never played with the packages they didnt go down the track well and got stuck in the hot house wheels.
I've been customizing them more than collecting them for the last several years. now I only buy the ones I like when I see them and have been thinning out my collection a little at a time. The only ones I'm really looking for now are the 2005 T-hunt Mini Cooper to finish the 05 set so that I have complete sets from 95 to 05. Then I'm just picking up the hunts that I wouldn't mind having like the 2006 T-hunt Sooo Fast, 2006 T-Hunt Dairy Delivery, 2008 T-hunt Buick Riviera. I've been checking Epay for some limited ones that I'd like to have and have even found a couple for 99 cents plus shipping.
Oh Snaps A 59 Caddy----- My Favorite Car In The Whole World. I Got A Whole Closet Full Of Only 59 Caddy Stuff
I only collect the Pinto Hotwheels...Pinto Thing and the Poison Pinto... Red Lines or not... That seemed to be the only car I had left from my childhood so I started collecting them. Sick Huh FrankBoss
I've got about 600 or so I'd like to sell. All new in packages, from early 90's to about 3 years ago. Let me know if anybody wants them, and make me an offer.
