Hey Mutley......Bo Huff has never heard of you either nor have I.....but that does not stop me from thinking what an asshole you are.

I dont give a shit about your opinion.

Are you some kind of measuring stick of all things cool?

    [/ QUOTE ]

As a matter of fact I am.

    [ QUOTE ]
WOW some tow truck driver from Fresno has never heard of it..well then, it must not be cool.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm glad you pointed that out so I dont have to.

    [ QUOTE ]
I had no Idea you were Fresno's cultural expert!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now you know and knowing is half the battle.

Apparently you work for OSR in some capacity? I never said I didnt like the magazine, in fact I have all 4 issues and I plan to get #5. I was just asking a simple question, who is this guy and why does he deserve so much coverage. There are lots of badass cars out there, they arent all built buy the same guy.

  5. Hey Muttley, if you paid attention to class and the Friday Art show you would know that Mike (aka buick59) is one hell of a photographer. He seems to be doing a great job getting Bo's talented work out in the world for all to see. He happens to freelance and OSR needs material.

Now, you have two choices, shut the fuck up or do something, like show us your writing and photography skills by digging up cool builders like Mike has done. I am not pissed at you at all but I would rather see 50 articles about guys like Bo Huff instead of the 80s,90s "mainstays" of rodding "journalism" Boyd and Alloway.

One day, people will look at Mikes work in the same way the look at Dave Perrys. No shit.

I also heard there's some picture of a drunk PakiMexiNegro in there too. That useless asshole needs to be destroyed.
Fucking OSR, what a blight huh?
A bunch of inbred yahoos, that's what they are, I bet you guys could put out a much better magazine.
    I'll sit back and wait.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah some dildo In Vegas took a picture of that MexiNegroPaki.....and can you believe they put his ugly ass mug in the mag!!!! Bythe way am I going to see you in North Carolina next weekend?

Maybe I was as jumpy as froglegs in a frying pan on my last post. I drove 6 hours home From Idaho, slept for a few hours went to work, then come home in the morning tired as can be..........and I read yet another bad mouthing of OSR. I've said it before.....there are cars that they feature that make me scratch my head and wonder. Like the gassers.........man I hate gassers.

The Last post/thread thas was on the HAMB was talking about how bad the photography and writing in that mag was. So I do have a bit of a chip on my shoulder and am defensive when it comes to baseless bad mouthing of my photo and writing stuff. Honest criticism is always welcomed by me. Shit it's the only way that I can see my work from other people eyes. I enjoy honest criticism....and take it well.....the flat out uninformed shit talk is the stuff that I have a hard time swallowing. I would venture to say that anyone here who had somebody talk shit about them or a good friend who they have known for years (Bo Huff)would stand up and make his voice heard.

With that said My apologies to the hillbillies in Ark. I love humpin hillbillies.....hell I used to live in Ark.

There have been plenty of HAMBERS in previous issues and in the current one....and future ones. Im amazed that only 5 issues into the magazine it seems that everyone thinks that all of them should have been covered already. Give it some time people! the staff members can only be in so many places at once. Ask Johnny Ace.....Im Texas bound in a few months.

About the title.....If it were me I would have chosen a different name. But it was not up to me. Just as Im sure many of the companies you work for don't do things your way.

What about "Kustom Kulture" or "Shot Rod" or "Karz" or any of the slang.....has anyone tried reading anybooks from Ed Roth? ya wanna talk about deliberate misspelling......oh lord.

Anyway NADS..Lets smoke some Kentucky Bluegrass this weekend.

The way I see it is this, once we were a united front against billet, now we're warring factions about what's cool and what's not.
That heap of a Chevy in the new OSR is part of the problem, that car is junk, the only reason it was built was to show how far you can go with minimal skills and beer goggles.
If you all remember, it was oneupmanship that killed the custom in the late '50s and early '60s.
Now we have a new form of the same thing, we've got goobers who are deliberately building junk just because they can.
    What's the point?
I don't begrudge OSR for highlighting such creations, afterall the Modern Grecian got tons of press when it was built, and it too was two steps away from garbage, and built by Barris??????
Having said that I think OSR really is on the pulse of what's here and right now, but at the same time if I had the power that Chevy wouldn't get a chance from me.

But that's we we are right now, we've got the know it all illuminati and the people on the edge willing to build pieces of shit sharing one common ground.

I wish I could be a Rodney King about it and say "why can't we all get along' but I'm not, I'm just a nobody doing shit as I always have.

It's truly disconcerting to see a bunch of folks, who in another time, who would have gotten along fighting about nothing.

The truth is is that Chevy exists and if OSR wants to feature it that there's prerogative.

I, for one, am glad that OSR exists, I love Mike Harrington to death, he's my brother forever, and if OSR didn't exist y'all would create it anyway.

If you dumbasses can make anything better go for it.

PS Mike, I won't be in NC bro', I've got prior engagements, have a beer for me, just keep taking your beautiful photos and let the chips fall where they may.

Thats wonderful, but it still doesnt explain why this guy should have the better part of 2 issues devoted to him. I know of about 15 cars just in this area that have never had any magazine exposure that are more than worthy, how about a little variety?

And what is your point? I never said anything about the quality of the photography.

You guys are making mountains out of molehills, all I did was ask who the hell Bo Huff was. I've been around hot rods my whole life and I've never heard of him until issue 3.

Agreed, but the key words are "guys like" not just Bo Huff. I said earlier I dont have anything against the guy but enough is enough.

  10. Muttley, Muttley, Muttley......like I said, show us your writing and photography skills.................A new magazine like OSR (gawd I hate their real name) is driven by what people, read:US send in! Mike responded to the chance to showcase Bo, do you know some hidden hero in your area? If you do, cool! Do up an article about the guy and submit it. Contrary to popular belief, many magazine articles are done for very little $$$$$ by freelancers. If you dont see their name on the masthead above the contributer line, that means they are probably guys like you and I, only they can link two sentances together and know an F Stop from the L Train [IMG]

Allbeit I am sort of a quiet person, I am all with 59 Buick. I have some nice cars, do my own work, yet wear Kenneth Cole and have highlited hair. I do not plegde allegence to the "greaser" flag, and to be honest most of the "greasers" I meet at shows that are avid readers of OSR are probably the biggest reason why I dont go to many shows. "Hey man...nice 303 Rocket...where did ya get that doublegrooved water pump pulley" OSR reader: "What? Oh, the water pump...kat...that cools the voodoo rockabilly block with crazy pimped out coolant daddy-o" There was some Baywatch lookin kat on the cover awhile back with some BEAT assed model A...or whatever it was. This thing was in 9 different colors primer, had a leaky 56 Y block, 3 different tires, exposed welds, crap for interior and it was a "done" car. Eh?? No comprende. That looked like a "before" shot. There are alot of people rescuing 24k original mile 4 drs out of grandmas garage, breaking some stuff and doing abhorent low quality bodywork to them to pass off a "rat rod".

I read the whole "I am a greaser" routine in one of the recent OSR mags and had to laugh...those were the same kats graduating high school with me in 97 with the punk rock hairdos and whatnot. I guess when ya outgrow punk, its rockabilly time. Who knows.

Also Bo Huff...he has had some really nice kustoms, but all in all I dont really dig his work, or Cecil Profitts for that matter. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I dont think squirting a lake pipe out of the cowl downward is a nice looking idea.

Trying to not step on toes...but I think OSR is really the quintessential "Hollywood" side of the scene...right down to the Olds article (52 Olds titled VoodooBillyKingPin...I cant make this stuff up) The article had probably 2 or 3 informative sentences on what was done to the car...including the "Pontiac 403"...a motor widespread in Pontiacs but an Olds casting. The rest was filler crap like "in a realm where ghouls drive hot rods and pimped out sleds" The day my chopped 50 Merc becomes "pimped out" I will burn it to the ground.

    Keeping it fair but honest....

everyone's free to bitch. just do it at Old School Rod's board, not here. we don't care.

I did hear that Flyrite Choppers has a cool ad in that issue tho...

  17. Dude, that was BRUTALLY honest and ON POINT but expect a major hazing from the "wallet chain commandoes"!

When is the last time you saw a Punk with a 12-inch rainbow mowhawk or a greaserbilly driving a new Mercedes SLK or BMW (beside KIRK! [IMG]) ?

More often these "life choices" seem to be more economic than anything. That or walking and public transportation is more PUNK ROCK than having a nice car. I have a hard time believing a smoke spewing beat to hell '68 Valiant 4-door covered in stickers in anyones "dream car". Seen some pretty mixed up crap piles lately, but call it a "rat rod" and your an instant member of the "brotherhood". No other group like bikers, pilots, boat & drag racers would allow like minded contraptions anywhere near what they are into- but if you say one bad word about some of these rolling trash heaps you are a "GOLD CHAIN HATER"- no, not me- and I don't want to see fat ugly women in Playboy either because it's "OL SKOOL".

Well for my $0.02, I like the Mag, like most some of the content is crap but a heck of a lot is great and Mikes pics rule, loved the ones in #4.
On the subject, I managed to take a look at American Rodder the other day, issue with the rat rods of Paso feature, what a crap magazine its become, glad it was someone elses $$ that shelled out for that, to think I used to subscribe........

If ignorance and bliss ruled, your comment would make you king!!! Maybe you should think before you speak! What gives you the right to pass judgement on SLC, or anywhere for that matter? Have you ever lived here?

When I meet you, I will make a point NOT to shake your hand!!!! I am sure plenty of folks really appreciate your near-sightedness.. here or there!

Man Jim A. that is funny when I first met you, and you realized that was my coupe you immediately told me you had a bunch of pictures of it and how much you loved it. That roadster pickup with the exposed welds at the roadster show should be done soon. We also have a 32 that is getting painted right now. I have got plenty of good stuff for you man! Boyd used to call me Jimmy Dull. I guess I dont have the tough guy image. Oh I just rememebered instead of saying walk a mile in my shoes to the UNION guy, I meant to say walk a mile in my shoes, or walk a mile to the beauty salon and get your hair highlighted?

    Hmmmmm Hemi Coupe...good one...highlited hair..::yawn::

Anyways, instead of bantering back and forth with someone of your undoubted intellect....I will just applaud your work when I see it gracing the pages of the mag...I guess everyone is trying to make a buck in the game...as I do by building/selling (legitimate finished) kustoms and the such...but I don't sell half-assed crap to fit the fad. I'll leave that up to posers like you. It sounds like I would have a better chance walking a mile with NO shoes than make it a mile driving one of your SoCal abortions.

Oh...ps...as for the "don't fit the tough guy image" I guess "tough guys" aren't fags with big mouthes on internet message boards.
