A guy at work came up the idea of "cylinder index" to measure how much of a gearhead you are. You get one point for each "cylinder" you have. That includes everything from hot rods to gas powered blenders. Plus, add 50% for power adders (turbo, nitrous, blower, eg: blown V8=12 points, nitrous weed eater=1.5 points). For a vehicle or implement in your posession to be counted, it must be startable by adding fuel and battery(if necessary). A collection of engines on engine stands does not count. I'm looking for how much crap you could fire up at one time on Sunday to piss off your neighbors. My current index is 61, down a couple points from last year.

The HAMBer with the highest cylinder index wins this sought after and highly collectible set of dash plaques from the Roseau Cruise-In car show, 2006 and 2007. Put these on your tool box and you can claim that you're been way further north than your buddies and you saw an actual Canadian nudist colony through binoculars.

The deadline for this contest is exactly whenever. I will declare a winner when the wild rabbit in the yard finally losses its white fur.

Have fun guys, and throw in a pic or two.

    49.

got some motors under covers that would bump that number much higher, but i think that's against the rules.

and, yes, the first one at the end of the dragstrip wins. i think a lot of folks forget that nowadays, so it bears repeating.

I scored three. Do I lose?

  9. Counted everything including 3 old outboard-motors and the old Voyager and still can't reach higher than 33 "bummer".

Quality over quantity, I always say. Not that I have much of either right now.

    43 around here, in 12: cars/ trucks/ tractors/ weed whip.
If all of the cars and trucks had V8 engines the count would be 63 but I could not afford to drive them.

Sorry, no consolation prizes., but - the guy with only 3 deserves something. Maybe I can dig an old connecting rod or two.

I think the idea of cylinder was started by Joe Soucheray at KSTP 1500 in St Paul. I heard that he has sued others for using his material :)
