What type of shock do you guys use on a light weight car such as a hot rod. Everything I see made by Monroe and Gabriel are gas filled and I've always been under the impression that gas filled shocks don't work well on a light car. What do you guys use??

The Pete and Jakes front end shocks are what I am using for a light weight build. Likely they will overdamp, compared to the ch***is's ideal damping needs. While it's not oriented to any specific shock selection...what I believe you want is a shock that will provide adequate damping, to cancel out a spring's rebound. To hit it on the mark, this would be termed "critically damped" Trans: the suspension "returns" to rest, as it reaches ride height immediately after the first "hit". Then you can open the Pandora's box of shock ratios, 90/10's were used on front ends of g***ers and such, to get max weight transfer, by holding the front end aloft (90% damped upon return to stock height) after the initial hookup, where lift was undamped (10%) so the car's weight transfer to the rear was maximized. I don't think a 90/10 would be best for street use and everyday driving performence.

ROMIC makes the best shock absorbers for light weight apps. They use a seperate air/nitrogen chambers so they can be mounted at any angle. They are also fully adjustable and rebuildable, plus there made in U.S.A.. Coil overs too for any app. Give them a look.......
