I'm not talking about parts suppliers, I'm talking about YARDS where ya go in and pick up the **** you WANT... Not places where you have to tell some DUMB*** "the exact part you are requiring-" Or do I just need to hold out for swap meets? Whats a good bike swap meet in Northern CA?
There used to be a cycle salvage place INSIDE a big warehouse in Concord on Monument Ave... we knew the dudes so they'd let us rummage, but we'd have to buy them lunch because they KNEW we were pocketing a few things....
Every place I've found up in Sac is a "tell us what ya need" kinda place, And I'm just basically just wanting to check everything out... I don't KNOW what I want....
There is a pretty decent size one in Salem, Or. off Kuebler rd. Can't remember the name but they run it just like an auto yard.
yep, they're around. there's one in jordan, mn, but their prices are ********. 99.9% japanese stuff, but thats what i got anyways supposedly one of the biggest yards there is, if not the biggest......wrecked bikes lined up as far as you can see
Thats weird i was thinking the same thing tonight looking for a front end for my project...anyone know of one on the east coast??
[ QUOTE ] There is a pretty decent size one in Salem, Or. off Kuebler rd. Can't remember the name but they run it just like an auto yard. [/ QUOTE ] Is that Mikes Bikes? I think he is pretty proud of his bikes. I called on a used front brake line for a XR500.The price they quoted me was almost as much as a new one from Honda. And new Honda parts arnt the cheepest in the world. There is one in Harrisburg on Hwy 99. The guy that runs it is a little nuts. He has lots of bikes. When you walk in you go down a narrow path with a 10ft mound of bikes on either side.
if this helps, there is one down in So Cal in OC. i think it is in Stanton. I know it's on Beach BLVD and Cerritos Ave...just come down the same weekend that the Long Beach Vet's cycle swap is and go to both.

[ QUOTE ] Thats weird i was thinking the same thing tonight looking for a front end for my project...anyone know of one on the east coast?? [/ QUOTE ] There is a smal shop near me with a salvage "lot" -- basically it's one city lot of 20' x 80' or so of motorcycle hunks and parts. Mostly Japanese parts. It might be worth considering. Name of the place is Geno's Cycle Center. It's honestly about 1/4 mile from my house.
For those in the midwest there's Outpost Cycle in Rosebud, Missouri. Rosebud is something on the order of 75 miles east of Jefferson City on US-50.
A little far for most of the guys on this post, but there used to be one in Bloomington Indiana that a had a fair share of everything. Hadn't been there in a few years, but used to be 75% jap, 20% harley, 5% everything else. Andy
There are a couple in North Carolina. Bear's Cycle Salvage in Raeford is the best. But there is also 751 Motorsports near Durham.
Don't know if he's still there, but there was a dude running one down in like Brownstown, Michigan. There's also one up in or right near Mt Pleasant, too. I had a Kawasaki three wheeled ATC "rat trike" that was built out of them two yards...had a 125 Yamaha two stroker, handlebars off a Triumph something-or-other, a street front tire and dirts out back!
Ratpack, You're in luck. Check out AJ Cycle Salvage.. it's in the industrial complex right off the Cargo City exit on I-95. # is (610) 521-6700. Back when I was in college we scored a CBR600F4 engine from them for Formula SAE car. Ed
Yup, there be some pretty good ones, though they are spread apart. There's a good one around South Philly, mostly later models though, as well as the one in Harrisburg PA. There's a damn fine one for Brits in Canada. So as you can see mostly s****yards are spread apart. You best bet is to find a shop that stockpiles old bikes. Mostly old shops, and mostly they'll let you walk around and look.
[ QUOTE ] There's a damn fine one for Brits in Canada. [/ QUOTE ] Does your cousin work there? Maybe I know him. Could you perhaps narrow that down a bit?
I could but then I would have to kill you. Just messin', when i was writing the post I realized I couldn't remember what town in Canada it was. I could clarify but I can't for the life of me remember the name. I believe its in Nova Scotia. Heard about through word of mouth.
[ QUOTE ] Thats weird i was thinking the same thing tonight looking for a front end for my project...anyone know of one on the east coast?? [/ QUOTE ] Theres one about 5 miles from Race way park in Englishtown NJ.. Its a tiny salvage yard, but the prices are right..
<------ This one. [ QUOTE ] What state is Harrisburg in? I'd REALLY like to find a yard in Nor-cal... (Maybe even Nevada?) [/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Thats weird i was thinking the same thing tonight looking for a front end for my project...anyone know of one on the east coast?? [/ QUOTE ] There a dime a dozen in NJ. Never anything good though, only japanese bikes. and not the cool kind from the 60's and 70's.
if your looking for american parts kennedys harley parts in oceanside calif, thats north san diego, 760 area code, has tons of old harley parts along with new, been there for years and knows his stuff, they can ship to you if that would help, most other places like others have said are jap influenced, but look into long time established harley repair shops in your area if you need american parts and you would be surprised what some of those old shops have.
ebay under springer, chopper, trikes, motorcycles, harleys. your hearts desire is waiting your entrance.
I know its a far away but in north east Alabama Mid Way Cycles 256 233 3821. 98% Japan name parts. lots of old stuff. in business over 25 years. Last time I looked excess of 5 acres handle bar to handle bar.. I hope this helps.
well, I doubt, even if you walked through all of them you'd ever find a junked Harley, kind of like finding any Corvette at the Pick-a-Part, they just don't end up there. Johnson and Wood in North Hollywood, a bit of a hike for you from No. Cal, will let you browse their yard. Also that place down in Stanton (the O.C.), Part Unlimited maybe? Not to be confused with the big aftermarket wholesale supplier of the same name. The best thing about these guys (in Stanton) is the $1 a part sale they do every fall where you show up and pull your own and fill your truck for a fist full of dollars. I built my 70 Honda DOHC 450 desert racer with a ton of stuff from their yard. Check the attachment. Don't look down on the Jap parts. The Ford flathead 60 powered bike that Coker/Honest Charlie are selling is based on a 70's Honda CB750 frame and ch***is and is ***led as one too. Woody
Dont ask me which one....there was an article in 'Horse' that talked about a place up North (maybe Chicago). Mag is mabye a year old or so and should be easy to find. The pics showed a lot of old Chopper stuff.
