None of us have been either. It's a 1st time venue. I can't answer that. Go, have fun, and learn. That's my plan.
PEOPLE. I'm looking for ANSWERS to a few questions for a friend that puts on the event. If you have QUESTIONS, start your own thread
Groucho - you are too funny - I appreciate you trying to get the hammer on the nail - I also realize how hard it is to track down the NAIL!!! ha - thanks again and I look forward to meeting all the guys / gals from the HAMB out there. This may have been posted elsewhere but is there a meet and greet at some point in Sant Maria?
I'm posting these pics of the motorcycle mania show from last year so you guys can get an Idea of what tha santa maria fairgrounds are like. As you can see there are plenty of places to sit and relax and there is trees in a lot of areas. Santa Maria is never as hot as Paso so the heat will not be a problem. if it's 100 in Santa Maria it will be 115 in Paso. Been going to paso since 94 and will continue to attend the Cruising Nationals noew that it's half an hour drive I will be there.
Come join all your friends in their Kustoms and Hot Rods as we take to the streets of Santa Maria and its beautiful surrounding country side. We will be lining up on Thornburg (in front of the fairgrounds) @ 6-6:30pm. From there we will be traveling through some of the most beautiful country side in the Central Coast, no stop signs or lights (yep, no over heating in traffic). The first town we will be cruising to is Los Alamos. Here you will find several points of interest, the first being the Union Hotel, built in the late 1800s, today in its all original style, serves as a bed & breakfast with full bar and table dining for 50. While in Los Alamos you can shop the antiques at the Antique Depot, or grab a drink at the Steelhorse Lariat Saloon. Other stops include Twin Oaks Restaurant- Charlies Café and a Chevron. The second city on this back country journey is the town of Cazmallia, or lack there of. All thats here is the Best Steak-Ribs-Chicken-Quail BBQ in the whole Central Coast. The place is called the Hitching Post and has been serven it up theyre way since 1944, theyll be set up to serve 150 people at a time in the side Courtyard. The Hitching Post will be on your left, find parking and settle in for a fine Western American meal and damn good time! Theres plenty of parking throughout the streets for everybody. http://www.hitchingpost1.com Directions To Los Alamos: From the fairgrounds (Thornburg) go Left on Stowell 0.2 Mls Broadway go Right, follow Broadway till it becomes HWY135 South to Los Alamos 20.5 Mls Directions From Los Alamos to Cazmallia: Follow Hwy135 north out of Los Alamos .15.1 mls Stay Left at fork taking HWY 1, follow HWY 1 .2.4 mls At the flashing light/stop sign go Left onto Black Rd .3.5 mls At Pt. coming to the show and bringing my caddy. Just wondering when can we expect the registrations? paid a long time ago and still no word
The only car running well enough to make the trip is the 63 Rambler, unfortunately it falls 2 years shy of the cut off. So it will be left at the motel.
Good to see vendors out side in this pic..perhaps that will change for Santa Maria next time around..At Billetproof Penny said all vendors inside..Good for some, but I couldn't imagine myself inside on the Memorial Day weekend, so I passed up the vendor space deal..No doubt I'll miss it,but I be in the freekin outdoors the way it should be on the holiday weekend!!!
The shifters will be having a big party saturday night at the locaL bowling alley. Just like the old days at Paso with 3-4 bands, DJ'S, lots of booze, and preferred parking for Hot Rods and Kustoms! Should be good!
what is the address? Everyone going lets give Penny a break this year. It is a first year and it will have some new growing pains. Lets go with a positive attitude and have some fun. It going to get better and better each year. Brad
Haysus Kristas guys! Why are you whinning about the trees and shade. I've lived in Santa Maria since 1958 and been going to the fair grounds since it was an oily spot in the sand. It's not Paso heat. What about the pollen count/allergy counts? A few days before the event go here:http://www.weather.com/outlook/health/allergies/local/93455?from=recentsearch for a 10 day forecast for Santa Maria weather(pollen count too). If it reaches the low 70's I'll be surprised. Usually low clouds/fog am with clearing by noon. But I've been married three times so I ain't always right.
Thanks to all giving info like xtralow with Fairgrounds link, dirtybird with pics, etc. It will be only as good as you make it. If you want to bitch now get it out of your system so that you can proudly say that you were at the first "real" car show in Santa Maria. If you hate it go home, if you like it help Penny with whatever she needs. Bring lots of $$ and you can buy your happiness.
I agree with Brad. Just go and have fun. I know there will be threads after the show with everyones opinon (good or bad) but WCK will try their best to see what works this year and make it even better for next year. It will still be the best gathering of Kustoms and Rods, can't beat it. BTW Brad, I got my reg back about a month ago. Brian
