I never had this happen before. I haven't looked into it yet but was hoping someone may have some information to add from their experience.
Temps in the 70's yesterday. Drove the coupe to work round trip was 90 miles. Pulled into our hometown Post office to get mail and jumped into the 37 ford and found the Brake pedal free play totally gone. Limped the car 100 feet to the garage and let it set for two hours and found the brakes freed up with 2-3 inches of free play.
Heat has to be the culprit but I don't ride the brakes and mostly downshift to slow up. I am thinking the master cylinder brake arm may be too far adjusted and the little heat from driving caused this. Never had this issue before and drove the coupe all last year after I adjust the free play last spring. Any ideas...

  2. i would look at the rod to make sure it is lining up in the hole properly and not catching the outside lip it could have popped back hard enough to pull it out of the hole

  3. might make sure you don't have a caliper sticking from an air bubble or wheel cyl. if it is drums. if it is disc check the rotor for hot spots or wear

How old are your brake line flex lines? When they go bad, they tend to deteriorate on the inside. This causes a "valve" in the line. The master has enough pressure to brake, but the wheel cylinders can't return the fluid. After driving a bit, they build up pressure and lock up.

I would change them out while you're checking the master cylinder adjustment.

  6. check the little ports in the master cylinder ,could be plugged up

The brake lines are 7 years old, I installed new after i went over the whole car after I bought it. Thanks for the idea though. Never realized that...

Now thats definitely possible. **** in there not allowing the system to release the pressure.
