Gmc 228

    anyone know if my gmc 228 has splash oiling or is it a full pressure oil system. Also im wondering if it has babbits or bearings.

    The GMC 228-302 have full pressure oil, to the best of my knowledge (limited to what I read and hear as I haven't pulled the pan off my 228 yet). It should also be inserts, supposedly that series never had poured babbit bearings. If it's still in the original vehicle check the oil pressure gauge, the spash oil Chevies had a 20 or 30 Psi gauge. Mine's got a 60 or 80 Psi gauge (don't remember which at the moment). FWIW it's a '50 GMC 100, S/N matching engine, given to myself and my father by the son and duaghter of the original owners.
