ok made up my mind. gonna go for it and build a g***er out of my 63 falcon. can anyone give me info on what to do with the steering. ie.use same sector?...change pitman arm?...cross steer? i have seen a few good pics, but can not tell exactly how they are put together.just do not want to make any mistakes.
I'm no expert by any means, but I am going through this right now with a 64 Comet. I think you'll find most do a cross steer with a fabbed arm on the p***enger side spindle. You can also do a cross steer and use a drag link attachment point. Speedway sells them... I think some folks have had bump steer issues with that set up, but search and you'll find plenty of discussions. I made my steering arm out of 3x3x1/2 inch angle and are using the top two spindle to backing plate mounts on a Econoline axle I narrowed. Search and you'll find plenty. Several guys around here offered good advice when I was starting my straight axle conversion. BTW...take your budget and double IT.
I am building a 65 falcon, I moved my steering box forward of the axle *(front steer) this seems like it will work out a little better.
