That Silver Streak is my dream camper.

  4. I live in Mission Viejo. A few years back I saw that cruising past Saddleback Church. I swung around just to catch up, give him the thumbs up and snap a couple pics. Very cool rig!

Awesome. I think COE's are the cat's ***. That airstream behind it looks absurd and beatiful all at the same time.

  11. I don't know.....I like the women here in southern Oklahoma. The dental bill isn't as high.

Me too. I used to p*** by one every day on the way to college. It was all original, and so cool. I never hit them up about it becuase I was just a broke student, and then one day in my senior year it was gone! I missed out on that one..

  22. The Silver Streak Clipper pictured was built between 1949 and 1953, it has a 'pipe' frame that consisted of a single 3" or 4" steel tube run the length of the ch***is w/ outrigger spars to which the wood floor is attached. You can see that an 'A' frame hitch has been added to the one in the Thread starter. Here is a picture of a 1952 Silver Streak Clipper we owned and sold a couple of years ago.:)

To me COEs just can't get any more ***s than that one, perfect. Well it could have the 41 grille and be a different color.
Not to hijack but who here has buffed one out? I have a HF buffer coming to buff out the aluminum on my 53 rollohome. Just use automotive finish compounds?
And FWIW, cout the segemnts on an Airstream front roof area, there is a way you can determine vintage, more panels is older but I think it maxes out at 7.

There was a guy up here from WA (IIRC) last year that was in the process of buffing up an 'off brand' trailer, I asked him about what he recommended and he said the Airstream guys have a product that kicks *** over everything he had tried. I can't remmember what it was, he was out of it (the compound in question) at the time. I would reccomend checking the Airstream boards, as they would definetly know.

  28. Be careful of who you have try to buff and polish your aluminum trailer. It is an craft that is learned thru many mistakes. It takes a whole lot of time to do. The 'going' rate is about $200 per linear foot to strip, buff and polish. There are no 'shortcuts'. What you are doing is removing layer(s) of oxidation and aluminum to get the shiny and unnatural polished finish. It is very easy to 'burn' the aluminum in the process, leaving marks that will not come out.
