    Thats badass dude.

I just got a 66 chevy pannel... not as cool as one of those, but it'll work for now.

Vans are the new hot rods. Seriously.

I was there and we had a great time. The whole thing was pretty cool. I can't wait to see Rashy driving it next time we get together.

A few years ago I had the chance to buy two Corvair vans and a P/u cheap. The price was cheap and I should have gone to look a them because they would have made a cool ride.....

Kongrats Rashy!! Kan't wait to see it on the street.

    Happy "Birthday" Trails,

  6. Fix that wiring, mine caught on fire under the dash... I put it out, but most of the insualtion had burned off on all the wires under there... In a move that will probably have you wondering why I haven't been killed off by natural selection, I re-wrapped all the insulation-less wire with electrical tape, and kept driving it.

Corvair motors are interchangeable from 60-69, so you should be able to find a running, leaky POS if the compression is bad. Nobody with a Corvair ever has just one... They seem to multiply, Mark my words.

Rashy, The question is not what you did to deserve a wife like that.

The question is, what did she do to deserve YOU. she must have been REALLY naughty sometime in the past.

Congrats on the van score. I've got a '63 coupe that has the front end, and 4speed trans still in it. If any of that interchanges and you need it let me know. I won't be using any of the underpinnings on the 'vair for my project.

heres the inside story behind the story.when the deal fell through on the dodge van ,mama was pretty upset ,she asked what else he might want.so i tried to pry out of him what he needed with out letting him know i was working with trashy.i made up some story about my accountant telling me i had to buy some equipment, asked rash what he thought i should get...then went on the look for said equipment...then the van was found on craigs list.mama her dad and i went and checked it out.he took the offer!!! the next day her dad and i went to get it.my truck has a winch on the front .makes loading very easy!! i didnt like the idea of him pulling the van with the LITTLE ranger.he gave it a go ,got about 3 blocks and i took over. at this point mama is freaking out cause rash gets off work and will be on the same road as us.we where only ahead of him by a few miles.we drooped the van off behind mamas parents place..now this is the time when rash started posted about the vans and everyone was talking about them.we are about to crap cause the last thing we need is for someone to make rash a good deal or him find one..so i make up this story about a van that a family friend has ,we could get cheap..i even send him a picture of HIS van.(took when picked it up).this slows down his searching.we are also thrashing around trying to get our cars ready for straykat. so his mind was off it a bit.mama and sara make plans to do SOMETHING! which means they are going to go clean it up. this was the weekend before straykat.im still leading him on about the family deal.make plans to go get it on the 17th..then she gives it to him last night....thats my story!!! sure ill remember more as time goes by....MAMA kicks ass!!!!!

I dont know what it is, Rashy, but these early 60's vans/vanups get in your blood. It's the goddamndest love- hate relationship You'll ever have. Good luck with it. great story, great family.... cool

  16. geez, now I'm bummed for getting rid of the HAMB Bomb. Would've looked good putt-putting down the track at Mokan side-by-each.

The one Cragar is a nice touch, I kinda hope there isn't one on the other side.

Happy early birthday you old bastard.

  18. It's about as pretty as you are!:)

When I found out about the scheme I was floored. That's so KOOL that she is so car krazy herself, that she went to GREAT lengths to find that PERFECT van.

There must be something in the water around us. We seem to have the best car wives around.

Tracy is the koolest car chick around, feeding all your bros, hangin out at all the car shows, and a FREAKIN GREENBRIER VAN giver.

    Way to go dude.

You can see the back of my wife in the above picture - she's the one in the lower left corner of the picture in the blue/white plaid shirt. She MADE me sell my motorcycle to buy my Dubble A, and is using it as 'leverage' to get me to buy her a car. Currently, she's on the hunt for a Pacer that we could stab a 318 into!

I've been a Tracy fan ever since I actually met her and she threw $50 across the table at me for the Doghouse project. That rocked, and seeing her do this for you Rashy, well that's just cool as hell too.

I love that van. All the little things I said about it are true - it's so ugly it's awesome, has class but all of it low, etc - but I'd love to have it myself.

    Enjoy both!

    Awesome Rashy!

Next time you're in Tampa...bring the van....just tape some tin foil up in the windows, and I'll get my taser, and we'll go over to 4t64rd's house and "git down to bidness"!!!

    Thanks all!

We're having a blast with the thing so far. Just got it last night, got it to turn over last night but no spark. Got some new points and condensor this morning came home tonight and actually got that pig to fire off. After quite a bit of dorking with the fuel system we had it running where it would idle.

Then a really odd "pop" and it started gushing oil from somehwere apparently below the front (rear) pulley.

It was still running though. We shut it down quick and it bled out.

Don't know what it was. I'm hoping some sort of seal but I can't tell a thing about this motor.

ANyone have ideas on what it might be?

Victory is a fickle bitch in the 918. :D

  27. They have a split crankcase, so I'd take off the lower tins and see exactly where it's leaking before running it again... probably just an old brittle seal that just could take the oil pressure, but it could be the oil cooler, they just have two little o-ring type seals and is down in that general area. That could be the gushing.

Congrats Rashy, those are way cool and that looks like a nice one. Good luck finding your oil problem. I wouldn't even know where to start on one of those.
