Poll; when to arrive at Bonneville?

With the new Speedweek schedule I was wondering when most HAMBer's are going to be showing up for this years Speedweek. I really enjoying the pits, racing and all things that have to do with the event its' self but I also like the party/carshow atmosphere in the evenings. So I would like to know when to expect the largest crowd.

 

I’m going to arrive on Sunday and leave on Thursday.

 

Wow, I just captured 100% of that vote, that's exciting! Denise and I plan to be there there Sunday for tech. It's one of the best parts of Speedweek for me.

 

The earlier the better...

 

Yep, arriving on Sunday and probaby leave on Wed and head for the HAMB Drags in Joplin, MO....with a quick stop to "try", once again, to view the Grand Canyon without car issues.

 

Were going to arrive on Saturday.

 

I was shooting for Monday, but could get there by Sunday. I'm a Bonneville newbie, what goes on at Tech, and where is it held?

 

With the "new" dates what will happen to the mob scene at the Nugget ? It has always been Friday and Sat night, should we shoot for Sunday and Monday ? Will there even be a gathering at the casino this year ? Sorry to sound negative , but I can't help thinking the SCTA has screwed with tradition, It has not helped the room situation at all, The same **** is taking place this year as in the past, if any of you follow the Landracing.com web site you know its just as screwed up as before, on the bright side of things, though, the city fathers have totally overhauled the police department in East Wendover, seems they fired the whole force ! The former Douche bag chief is now driving a tow truck, and the officers that were worth a damn got jobs with the county sheriff's department, who is the law in town now! Yeah, I'll be there, it's goning to be great as usuall, maybe even better, lets have a kick *** time!

 

One of the down falls of going later is if someone that your interested in breaks earlier in the week you may not get see them make a p***, tech is definitley a cool part because everything on the car is opened up, but you can see them opened up in the pits as well because just about every racer there is a freindly guy or gal......there is some great people that are at Bonneville.

 

I can't imagine why the Nugget won't be packed the first few days of Speed Week. Does it really matter if it's a Friday, Sat and Sunday OR a Sunday, Monday and Tuesday? The begining of Speed Week will be the most crowded no matter what day of the week it falls on.

Salt Talks is scheduled for Sunday evening as of right now.

 

So the Friday option on the poll above is the Friday AFTER tech, right? NOT the Friday BEFORE tech, right?

 

When/where EXACTLY is the car show/party atmosphere at night? I'd be into that too on my 1st trip out there

 

Groucho...sweetheart, there is actually two main places to party, The Nugget (casino) parking lot and the Bend in the Road....three if you count the ***ty bar.

 

you can count three at the ***ty bar, I only thought they came in pairs. lol

No Can Do. The bend in the road is as close as you can camp

 

yea the Friday option was ment as Friday after tech near the end of Speedweek.


HRLC- I don't know if the begining of Speedweek will be the busiest spectator wise because of starting on a Monday. Think how many people come from places that are less than a one day drive and just use the weekend and don't have to take a vacation. The time I went to the Wendover ***ty bar I was very disappointed, the parking lot at the nugget was way more fun.

While I agree that lots of folks came only for the weekend, I do believe those same folks will be there on Sunday, Monday, maybe Tuesday this year. If they are true Speed Week fans they will be there and the lack of room availability at this point also leads me to believe this as well.

Your right. I should of asked you first because it's not a party till you get there anyway.

I'll be there but I'm trying to get some stuff planned and would like to see as much as possible.

I am gonna build a car and try to make it there next year or the after. Depending on how much cash I can get by then.

I camped in 99 and 01 and it was the best time ever!! Hands down!! I'm not super into Bonneville right now or the time schedule, but when I had a friend runnning a car it was really cool to be at the driver's meeting the first day. Just the energy and anticipation are out of control!! If you have never been, GO NOW BEFORE THEY STOP DOING IT OR SHUT IT DOWN FOR SOME STUPID REASON!!!!

Ill be leaving here on friday and be there on sat. and leave on wed. to meet the family on the oregon coast for camping i will be coming from chehalis wa. if anyone wants to convoy ill be driving my 34 chevy so if you see me say hey its always good to put a face w/a user name

We'll be caravaning out of Medford, Oregon on Saturday morning (all NW HAMBers are invited to join us) and hooking up with the R&C tour that night in Winnemucca. Rolling into Wendover Sunday AM. Free concerts at our tent at Bend in the Road, every night after racing. Be there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

this will be my first time going. how much room is at the bend in the road for camping? does it fill up fast? and what have the police been like in the past? someone said they had been replace?
