me to i hope they didnt ruin it like they did with the dukeof hazzard movie-only got through 35 minutes and shut it off
When I was growing up nobody I knew was into speed racer. It might have had something to do with the monkey or the lips syncing up with english or the fact it had no hot rods or customs in it. We were little , but we knew something wasn't right about it. I guess it was for the younger kids.I could think of better things to make a movie of. I remember how they shoved it down our throats on Saturday mornings, looks like history repeats itself. I don't get it, sorry.
I loved Speed Racer when I was youngster. I was digging the fact that they were doing a movie. Then I watched a couple trailers on the Yahoo page about a week or two ago. It looks like rubbish. Pure ****ty garbage. I was VERY disappointed in what I saw. THey should have treated the idea with a bit more seriousness. Too campy.
I just don't get it...maybe I grew up in too early a time but that's not racing...even campy racing...it's just going to fast for conditions and skidding all over the place. And for some reason my eyes just can't keep up with all the action...I'll give it a p***.
It's called drifting, I think. They're prolly thinking they need to keep the 'action' current for the kids. I was pretty stoked to see it; now, not so much. Vance
I don't know if I'm too old or too young for this movie. I don't get it and I think all I can stand is the 7 minute trailer. What year did Speed Racer come out? Oh...I thought he said dogballs too...so I'm looking for dogballs...WTF? It looks like some Japanese cartoon that makes American racers seem like idiots. Oh well, where's the Iron Man trailer?
Yeah, they ruined it, but damn if that chase scene in downtown Atlanta wasn't the ****. I'm not suggesting you sit through the whole movie, but go to youtube and look for "Hot Rod Lincoln" or "Black Betty". Some computer geeks with a love of the Dukes dubbed both of those songs over that chase scene. Well worth a few minutes of your time.
Saw it Wednesday night (I got people ), left the IMAX feeling like I'd just ridden 4 back-to-back roller coasters. Definitely not for those who get motion sickness easily! In summation, it's like watching a two hour version of the cartoon on acid- m***ive, m***ive over visual stimulation. I promise you've never seen any movie like it before. You feel like you need a rest afterwards. Definitely on the campy side, but it was fun and a triumph of computer animation. Overall, it's not really to my taste, but then again I never liked the cartoon either.
This movie has that Susan Saranden in it! She hates YOU and me because our cars have internal combustion engines. She has multiple homes so it's OK for her to use fuel but for everyone else... she's outspoken against us! A typical Hollywood hypocrite! Don't be a ****er and give money to people who are against all you enjoy. Take a stand, don't see that movie and give your hard earned cash to that pompous *****.
I didn't like Speed Racer then and I especially don't like this version. A bunch of electronic ******** with "actors" working in front of a green screen. There is no real substance here (in my opinion) no stunts, no racing, no sets. If you are going to animate a film..... animate it. I have no interest in seeing this film!!!!!
OK so I watched the trailer...So what I said before still goes!!! And it did sound like dogballs!!!!!!
Bullitt, gone in 60 (1974) Cobra even. Good chase, car, effects, etc, but Speed Racer could not be done with any justice without CGG, I look forward to seeing it. I bet I like it too! Im 46 I think I was the right age when it came out cartoony, got the box set DVD and wow campy but still fun! I argee, he said Dogballs Dave
Went to go see it yesterday and I wanted to walk out half way through but the kids were kinda watching it.. My vote is movie ****d......
To put some perspective on it , this is what Speed Racer was up against on my 3 channels growing up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E42QvbqorZI Tom Slick, now that was a good car cartoon . Came on with George of the Jungle. That might be too much information. I might have been to old for Speed Racer.
i loved the cartoons as a kid, also tom slick, thunder chicken, and the banana split`s . I`m gonna have to see this move !
i just saw it at the imax last night, its really awsome. you have to go at it with a little of a open mind because it is a little out there. but it is an amazing movie to say the least and was definately worth my 15 bucks. I think Imax is probably THE way to see it though, the sounds and m***ive screen really do it justice.
Heard a review last night on the radio.... "Looks like an overlong explosion in a crayon factory...If you have any love of the original, do yourself a favor, and stay home"
