Dual exhaust manifolds for a 317" '53 Lincoln

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 2many projects, May 11, 2008.

  1. I have a '53 Lincoln Capri with a stock 317" OHV mill.
Does anyone have some steel or iron exhaust headers to fit this car.
I tried some truck style ram horns with the correct stagger at the front and rear bolts but the left side dump interferes with the power steering box in this model.
Someone told me to look for some '55 Lincoln exhaust manifolds as they came stock with factory duals.
    Is this correct information?
The single line system with a front mounted cross-over I presently run ****s!
    It's got no sound!
What's available for intakes for this engine?
Right now I'm running a single 4 bbl. flaming teapot.
Another dangerous and bad idea from Ford.

I have a 54 Lincoln Capri with single exhaust. I just love it, NOT. But as far as duallys go, yes the 55 should work.

As far as intake manifolds go, check with 56 or 57 Lincolns. They have 368 and I believe that intake would work on the 317.5 CID Lincolns. They also carry a Holley carb, more like the Holley's we all know of. (I still have my flaming teapot on mine, another fine POS)

My '54 also had the 317 with single exhaust, but I thought I needed something a bit different so I put in a fuel injected 302. I was told that the manifolds are out there but it looked like it would be next to impossible with that gaint gear box! A simple change to another gear box or even rack and pinion would make some room.
