I am re building my SBC and was wondering if anyone knew of a Good cheep place to obtain the guts? I just looked through the venders on the HAM but didnt see one that carries engine rebuild kits. I looked on Ebay but I am a bit hesitant of the quality of the kits on there.

will be needing everything but the crank and rods for the short block.

Damm now only if I could spell

-I would try PAW. Performance Auto Warehouse. They have an enormous catalog, with virtually every combination of goodies you would ever want for this engine... :D

Its Kanter ,and parts for a SBC are a dime a dozen, finding a rebuild kit isnt that hard. Most speed shops if you know them can get you a deal, or bite the built and look in JEGS. I know there is places that do nothing but build speed parts and accessories for small blocks.

do you wanna build it better than it was or stock?

  7. Northern Auto Parts has good deals on engine kits, with good quality parts. Their performance kits are a good deal too if you want to go with Speed-Pro pistons, etc.

Summit used to have pretty good deals too if you buy the kit, but it seems like their prices aren't as low as they used to be. Either with Northern or Summit, you get a much better deal if you buy the whole kit than if you piece it out one part at a time. You'll need to know what size bore you're going to do (.030 over maybe), what size bearings (.010" under, etc.), what sort of cam profile you want, etc.

Jegs and PAW are good places too, although I got a few ****py parts from PAW before, (like an oil pump driveshaft that the end fell off in my hand because they drilled the hole for the press fit pin way oversized).

My block is .060 over done with plates. Heads are power pak 1.94 camel hump. The machine work cost me both of my arms So I was trying to save my legs while still not skimping TOO much on the quality:rolleyes:
