Well guys i know this is kinda tabo for this forum. But i tryed elsewhere first without getting helped. Can someone tell me where i can get install tech help for instaling air ride on the s10 ch***is? I got most of the parts at swap meets so i didn't get no struckshins I got a general idea but the proper tech could save my b hine . I'm gona use it under my 41 stude truck thanks johnrodz
What do you want to know? I've been bagging trucks since 1995, and have done over 20 s-10's. IM me if you want I can answer anything you want to know. My websight is www.insanedesigns.com
Ok, insane 1, I'm starting the build of my 41 stude. What i'm doing is a olskool nascar race truck as if they had a truck series in the 60s. I'm using late model stock car wide five custom spindles.hubs, brakes and a quick change with 3 link all on air ride.I'm using the s10 because its narrow enough to fit up under the fenders.I have adapted the spindles to the s10 a frames by adapting screw in balljoints . I did this at the ride highth of 5 inches. Having sead all that when i look at the air bag mounts on the lower a frame they look like they don't line up straight to the upper mount that goes into the upper spring seat area. I know that the arc of the lower a arm will change with the travel and will never stay totaley strate aneyway so i think i need scoolin. I think other than the custome spindles all the rest will be the same as doing the s10 setup My new spindles are the same distance between the ball joints as the s10. If you got instructions for the s10 system it would be a great help, thanks johnrodz
i've been doing air ride since 94 and have done at least 21 S-10s (and a billion other vehicles) ... thats actually pretty much true. not sure how many S10s i did exactly. well, i hope that helped answer your questions.
The 56 Buick is just lowered, no bags. I dont do "kits" persay everything I do is one off to the car/truck, I provide my customers the best job that I can, and it seems that everybody wants something diffrent, so I have never offered any "kits". I didnt notice where you are located, but I'm sure it is not close to me, so I will be happy to provide you with any advise that I can. Let me know what questions you have.
Ok, First off; the top, and the bottom the bag will never be fully inline w/one another at all times that is why bags have can have up to 2" of misalignment. One thing you need to decide is what size bag are you wanting to run? Also what brand bags are you useing? Most people that use Firestone, or Conitech bags use what is commonly known as a 2500# bag size. I only install 2600# bags in s-10 frames. You will have to clearence the frame for the bags, but the effort is well worth the work. Are you wanting to lay frame? I know you said 5" ride height, but what do you want to get from the bags? Ride, stance, etc? As for instructions- very basicly; cup on the top, and bottom. Top cup is usally around 2"- 2 1/2" tall, bottom cup it about the same. Bolt these cups in otherwise you will have problems. The bags will need to plenty of clearence as not to rub anything. If you install 2600# bags you will need to space the bag "out" from the frame some (not centered in the spring cup, and just a little towards the spindle.), and as I said eariler; clearence the frame. Hope this helps, and I didn't just confuse you.
Thats what i thought 2600 lb bags are what i got .the clearance trim i got done. give me details on moving the lower cup out towards the spindle. The cup is a bolt in. do you trim and weld it or what? i want to keep the stock lower a frame but dont mind cut and fit if needed thanks johnrodz
To move the bag out, the plates on the cups should be offset a little one way. The bag should never be centered on the cups. They are usally offset about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch or so.
Hay insane1, Man i got er done! After i got it all bolted in and set up the ride hight the bags look much better.I got about 3/4 inch clearance all around the bags. Do you think thats plenty? Well thanks for all the advice given by all and aspeshley insain1. man i love when a plan comes together. johnrodz
Cool man glad to help. As long as you have enough clearence to get your fingers inbetween the bag, and the frame you should be good. If you have anyother questions feel free to IM me.
