Well, we're picking up an moving out there in a few weeks. I'm excited to be somewhere alot warmer. Its snowing here as I type. I have no idea what I'm going to do with my whole shop worth of stuff. Might have to store it until I can figure something out. Its a big step, I've been here 13 yrs, and my wife her whole life. Anyway, I thought I'd check and see if anyone from the board is out there.
I am not from there or live there, but I bought a car from a guy named Charlie Crocker who lives there. He was a white water rafter in the summer and a ski instructor in the winter.....Kind of an interesting, free spirited feller......If you meet him, tell him I said hello.
I never lived there but, I live in AZ. They have a really cool car show there last I checked. I saw a friends video when he went there. Really cool, lots of hotrods, cruising the main drag, flame throwers. Even saw a full blown rail drag car cruising the streets. Cops were hangin out just watching. I always wanted to go to that show.
April Action car show, last weekend of April every year...16th Annual this year...almost 800 cars this year...cruisin' Main Street Friday and Saturday nites... but the cops watch for burnouts, open exhaust, bleach boxes, excessive speed...more cops in one place that you've seen in a while...keeps the locals in check. I'm not from there...but I've got quite a few car guy friends over there...it is a bit warmer than Winter Park...and a lot less snow...I go over twice a year...I think you'll like it there...small town atmosphere... PM me and I can give you a phone number of a died in the wool car guy you mite need to know... R-
Stopped for a few days on a family vacation. I told my wife If I lived their I would sell the hot rods and build rock crawlers and 4 wheelers. It looks like a great time going out on the trails..
I've been to the car show 5 times. That was one of the reasons I was so open to moving there. Its a fun show, cruzin main street every night, rod runs during the day. Its about the cars. We're going to be living about 15 miles up the canyon, so it'll be a fun commute on the bikes.
Moab is a great little town. Spent a week there hiking some of the trails. Lots of old Indian history. Main street is a wreck in the summer with traffic but the locals are good people. Good luck!
Hitten the trails in Moab is a blast, did some single trail mountain biking there, nice thing if your in to it is the dunes, little sahara isnt far.
Moab is fabulous! The Jeeping, National Parks, and proximity to some of the best outdoor recreation in the country is incredible. I've been there 4 times, and have hiked through a lot of Arches, Canyonlands, Zion, Bryce, Grand Canyon, etc., etc. Enjoy!!! Pete
My dad lived there back in the 60's. If you ever need any engine work done, theres a guy there named Blain Stevenson. The best there is!
Man if I lived there I would not be selling this!! This was from 04' EJS? They have some crazy *** fun trials out there!! Cool town too!! Man you are moving from one cool place to another!! LUCKY DOG!! -COS
My band plays at Woody's Tavern in Moab occasionally. We were there the weekend before last. We're trying to set up another gig in the Fall. There's an exhibition of photos from the salt flats at one the art galleries on the main drag. Really nice pictures. Check it out. I was only in there a few minutes before my bandmates noticed me drooling and dragged me out by the ear.
moab's cool, i like that place. downside is you have to be a "member" to drink in a bar... utah's funny that way...
Moab ....the adventure playground for adults, been down there three times in the past couple of months
Its pretty good during the summer, ans long as yuo want to do a job that caters to tourists. From what they tell me, Dec. and Jan. are dead. Maybe a good time to take a long vacation. Where I am now, May and Oct - mid Nov are the off season, alot of business owners just shut down and leave town. So month long vacations are easy to pull off.
Ya, the Utah alcohol laws are wacky. You have to be a member or be sponsored by a member to drink in a bar. If the place serves food, than they can serve drinks with the food to anyone. Then theres the 3.2 places where anyone can go in and have a drink. If you want to by your own liquor, you have one choice, the state owned liquor store. You can buy 3.2 at the grocery or convenience stores. Good thing its not far to CO.
I was just there last week to see Arches & Canyonlands National parks. Everything was great, including the people & the weather. I'm from Pennsylvania, so everything was very different to what I'm used to. The town is centered around 4-wheeling, the proximity to the parks & rafting the Colorado. I heard that now is the best weather. There's a nice yellow Model A for sale on the main drag.
A member to drink? Like somebody said, "I would never belong to a club that would have me as a member."
