I got this 32 3w coupe, which has has some serious "ressurection' done to it. I my headed for a50's kind of street fighter vibe, and I've never liked the Factory Hold downs. (I'd use the 33-34 system befor stockers) Maybe something in a camlock or....so it has a utilitatrian Kinda feel, y'know, like Indian Larry used to say, a little Gizmoism. Any bright ideas maybe some marine hardware or.... P.S. Ignore the wheels Mark
Nice ride. I like the factory hold downs. Marine stores are good for ideas, I've done that myself. Google industrial latches or fasteners or something, maybe luggage hardware?. There are a million of those gizmos out there - just gotta find them!
Or even some truck stores. there is the tried and true Dzus fasteners. I know what you mean. I want to do the same thing with my Roadster, and would prefer not to use original holddowns as its a hiboy. I was looking at the McGee/Scritchfield roadster as it has no visable hold downs and wondering how that was done. I was wondering about some sort of industrial door latch, like cupboard latches but stronger in the springs to withstand the vibration and wind.
...then there's the vertical piano hinge at each end - half on the shell and cowl, other halves on the hood sides. Lift up pin/rod to release. After you lift the top off of course!
why not just check out the other thread you started asking exactly the same thing http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=264381
