Okay guys. This is outside my experience zone. I know post war cars well, but this is bordering on greek. I've wanted an old open-top touring car for awhile to play with and this came about. It's even my favorite brand. It's a 1924 Studebaker Touring car, with a recently completely professionally overhauled six engine (everything re-done block sleeved, new pistons, rings, valves, guides, seats, re-babbited rods and block, crank turned, etc). No rust car, all steel body, good turn key driver, really "needs" nothing to drive. From a buyers perspective, what should I bargain for price-wise, realistically. NO BS'ers please saying you just bought one for $500! I'm just asking for 'gut' feelings from you guys on value.
i don't know, but there is a 1917 Studebaker touring in hemming 's that says it is an older restoration, six cylinder, open car. maybe close to the same? they are asking 10500.00 for it.
I would guesstimate around 9,500- 11,500. It looks really well done & as you say, has been completely gone thru, internally. I would imagine that wasn't cheap, especially on an ol' Stoody. I wouldn't think NAPA & CarQuest keeps all those pieces in stock, ha. Looks like a nice piece. My friend has a '31 Tudor & it's an older resto & needs the waterpump replaced, or rebuilt, & he's asking 12K for it. Of course, that doesn't mean he's gonna get it, ha. Hope this helped. Good luck!
Man, that thing is gorgeous... I think at least 10-15k, but, thats an uneducated guess. Could even be more. My advice, buy it if thats what you've been looking for. I dont think you can go wrong...
The Manheim Gold Book value for a '24 Studebaker Special Six, Model EP, in excellent condition is $11,000. If it's a Big Six, Model EG/EK, the value for excellent condition is $13,000. Scan through prewarcars.com to see what people are asking for that car or others similar.
$28.17... ofcourse i'm kidding. neat *** car. if i had occasion to buy it at a reasonable price i'd just cruise the **** out of it AS IS! totaly cool.
Thanks for the replies so far. I'm thinking about it just for a fun local thing to putz around in once and awhile just "as-is". I've owned lots of post-war studes, but never a pre-war. The asking price is $8,000 and I think the guy will be pretty firm to that from listening to him.
Right on! Keep us informed, and join the Studebaker Drivers Club while you're at it. If you need stock parts - they'll have 'em, or know where you can find 'em.
I've been a member of the SDC for several years now, without the club I doubt I still would be running a Hawk and Lark.
When you consider the fact that $7500 will only buy you a decent (but boring) fairly late model used car, I'd say you ****in' stole it! Congrats on an excellent score.
