Holy cow, that's an easy answer..............he barrowed some bobbi pins from his dame..........dah!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you guys notice Tommy Bond (Jack Blogit)? He played Butch in the Little Rascals. He was a big time supporter of Robert Blake.
I'll check when I get home but I think it is a Marmon V16, the car is seen making a pass later on in the clip.
According to the Internet Movie Database, Hot Rod (1950) was 61 minutes long. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0042578/ According to the Wikipedia page about Monogram Pictures Corporation, they went bankrupt in 1979. "The Monogram/Allied Artists library was bought by television producer Lorimar. Today a majority of this library belongs to Time Warner." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monogram_Pictures Dave Mann (602) 233-8400 http://www.roadsters.com/
It would be alot cooler if there were some jumps or a black Charger with a fake blower bolted to the hood racing that antique junk.
For some reason it brings up thoughts of the NRA. Hot Rods don't kill .... people do or If you outlaw Hot Rods, only outlaws will have Hot Rods... Very cool, what I wouldn't give for a time machine!
I love the old hot rod flicks. Got a bunch of em on VHS from "something weird video" back in the early 90's, I like this one too..... perfect for the FNG's <embed id="VideoPlayback" style="width:400px;height:326px" flashvars="" src="http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docid=-5851344091937046529&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"> </embed>
If the sound track is choppy stop the movie and allow the upload to get further ahead of the down load and start the movie again.
Although these 5o's hot rod safety/exploitation movies are really corny, they are still a lot of fun and a good insight into people's perceptions at the time. Of course they are also a good source of period footage. Public beware, there may be hot rod hoodlums in your town!
Here is a photo of the Tony Capanna Marmon V-16, always thought the Roman numeral 16 on the cowl was a nice feature. from the Veda Orr Lakes Pictorial
Awesome little video, Im yet to see the whole movie. Pretty good result after 4 miles with flatheads, the other one is back on the side of the road, he's the one who got caught
in 2007 guys at the Duluth MINN. W.OW. spliced this footage with RED BARON aerial dog fights ... they did a good job ... all seemed to be blending the themes .... good vs evil .. wind blown scarves and roostertails I LIKED IT ... AND HAVE BEEN IN A SEARCH FOR THE EARLY MOVIES SINCE..
I have that movie on VHS!!! If anyone wants to have a DFW Hot Rod movie night, I'll bring it, or host it for that matter...
I dare ya to ask your grandma!! HAH! I got a kick out of Jack looking at his rearview mirror, there's so much vibration in them you can't see nothing!
I think that Ryan has pulled the wool over our eyes! If these are traditional hot rodders, where are the tats and why don't the chicks have correct period clothing like the ones in the current magazines?
My favorite thing in just about any old car movies is... no matter how smooth and straight the road is... the driver is always sawing away at the wheel... left... right... left... right... and always with great drama!
