    Well' I feel honored, LOL!!!!
Looks 100% better, Showrod! I see so many Mercs with Mustang mirrors or something like your before pic, and it just makes want to gag!!! Those mirrors compliment the side trim perfectly....

Huge difference and MUCH better. The others just seem to disappear into the car but these old chromes really compliment it.
    Good job man!

Looks nice. The peep mirrors on the door top are worthless, those look nice and you can actually see out of them!

    Nice!

I got mine at mac's antique auto parts. looks like the mirror head is stainless the rest is chrome. I think I paid $40 each just glad to get rid of those ugly old mirrors. besides no one had posted anything about mercs on the hamb for about 20 minutes.

Mine are the same as yours, stainless and chrome base. The chrome just isn't durable.

Looks good showrod! Alllllllmost sad to see them go, though.....I think they were on there in 82 or 83 when I first saw it. I still owe you those pictures, but I currently don't have a working scanner. :)

Was the mirror an option in 1950? My barn find Merc looks like it didn't come with one.

Apparently the barn was the option.

My 51 didn't have any outside mirrors when I bought it in 1963.

    to quote DrHerb:

I've had peep mirrors on the 48 and had them on the 51 at one time before I sold it and about all I can say about them is that they make the car legal by being an outside mirror.

I have a notion that unless I find something I like a hell of a lot better the 48 will end up with Merc mirrors on it as of now.

    Great mirrors!!!

Mack's Antique Auto Parts on eBay lists these as the following:

Outside Rear View Mirror - 2 Hole Base for 1956 to 1965 Ford (B5AZ-17696-B)

No base gasket or screws are included. :(

Question: Did you have to make your own base gasket, or did you find them somewhere else?

    Thanks! :)
