    Hey gang,

I've been lurking on this site for awhile now, decided to join last week. Here are some pics of the car I am thinking about buying. Its a 56 Buick Riv Special, 2 door hardtop. It does need some metal replaced, needs floors, the usual suspects. But the frame appears to be good and it has a 322 Nailhead that will turn over...might even start if it had access to good gas.

Not entirely sure what my plans are other than restoration. Certainly a lot of good ideas floating around on the HAMB, and definitely a lot of good advice. So we'll see where it goes!

Different colored front clip may mean it had a pretty good hit one time or another. If the roof is not buckled or the windshield cracked your probably alrighr but I would look at the cowl very closely.

Hard car to come by. Congrats that's a winner.

Actually the front clip came from the 4 door Buick next to it. He put those blue fenders on it because they were in better shape than the 2 door's fenders. He still had the old fenders leaning up against the 4 door car.

The price is surprisingly good, and the seller is a really nice guy. KustomKarma, I'm near the airport.

I will keep you guys posted. I agree, the lines on this car are amazing.

Go for it, I just found my first project a few weeks ago after looking for several years.

    Good luck.

Love it! 56 is a good year for any GM, especially Buick.

Get it quick, looks like a good start, those things look cool with a Flaked Roof.
If you can, get as much stuff from the 4 door

They rust between the back gl*** and the quarter window and the top of the quarter pannel around the window. Check there and front corners of the hood.

When you buy this car (because if you dont we will hunt you down) make sure you yank off as much as you can from the 4 door next to it, ESPECIALLY THE TRIM. Getting scarcer to find.
That Car Rates Three Flaming Socks!!

Grab it quick! When you do get it just remember you now have to hunt parts for a Special or Century. The parts from a Roadmaster or Super won't fit your Special. Good luck.

Well I committed to buy it today. Will take me about a month to get the seller the cash, but he took it off the market for me. I will keep you guys posted.

3 flaming socks? That's pretty awesome. (I think)

Quick, pointless update: Started the engine last Saturday. Although it only ran for about 15-20 seconds, it ran well. I was surprised.
