Lately there have been quite a few shows that'll bring in a "Dyno" so that the owners can pay a few bucks to see what they got. I was thinking that this would be fun... but of course there still are dangers! <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Lj0-_K_RsmA&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Lj0-_K_RsmA&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> Here's one where it stays on the dyno! <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/8RG6skTox6Y&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/8RG6skTox6Y&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
That just like, nope exactly like that one burnout deal last year where a bunch of people got smashed up. If your gonna dyno your car go to a shop and do it the right way.
There was a guy in So Cal that had a trailer mounted ch***is dyno he'd gotten from AAA. AAA used it to check people's speedos(?) Hey that's the story. Nice guy don't know what happened to him. But the whole rig was pretty cool. Then there was the time I was in the local Long Beach auto parts store and a Porsche broke loose on the dyno across the street......... it jumped straight out into the road!!!! No traffic no harm..... I am sure they had to buy a new drivers seat and it took hours to get rid of the smell in the car
I have never seen a dyno run that did NOT result in some sort of damage to something. Every time, they blow smoke afterwards, they rattle, or even throw a leg out. Basically because of dumb **** operators. They are serious machines and need due care.
i about laid one when i seen that car shoot off there. i always wondered if those straps were strong enough.
I was there when the straps broke. I was 50 yards away and almost got trampled by people running out the way. That car has over 1000 wheel horse power. Didn't cheer or clap just walked away shaking my head.
whoever is running the dyno is just plain dumb. we have been using a dyno jet dyno for over 10 years without a problem. we have even had alchol funnys on there without a issue. we will have the dyno going at our car show this year at the south tacoma alley rally. if youre in wasington or near by come check it out. we will show ya how a dyno should be ran!
you couldnt PAY me to strap my car to a dyno trailer I always laugh at the drunk bikers drag race dynos gayer than gay and looks really unsafe
in gound and dyno trailers are pretty much the same , but im with you , i like my car on the ground! it all comes down to the guy strapping the car down.
What caused this situation.... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/y3-cTjmWdXU&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/y3-cTjmWdXU&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I was there as well, it was at the Car Craft nationals. It was pretty thrilling, all right. I noticed this year the dyno trailer was roped off to keep the spectators FAR away.
As we say in Britain '' **** that for a game of soliders'' Once worked in a place that had a Dyno, never liked the sound of a car flat out whilst st****d down.It ain't natural!
The part of that which is unsafe is running a supercharged hopped up engine through S rated tires. Next time around, spend some bucks whee the car meets the ground.
DW... I love seeing your car anytime! Thanks for sharing! This is why straps aren't crossed in the rear unless they are on a proper swivel... http://youtu.be/Lj0-_K_RsmA
