I am installing new Timken bearings and seals on my 40 hubs. After installing the inner race and bearing and then the seal, there is a gap of about 0.2" between the bearing face and the seal. Does the inner bearing just kind of float in the hub, or does the spindle hold it in place? Or do I have something goofed up...I've checked and I have the correct bearings and seals.

  2. the inner bearing slides on the spindle until it stops against a shoulder...that is if the id of the bearing and the od of the spindle is correct

the seal has a seperate shoulder on the spindle to seal against

The spindle seats on the bearing as you describe. It just didn't look right at first but I am good. Thanks 36
