I just bought an AOD automatic. The transmission guy I bought it from says that it has some kind of B&M shift kit in it and it does not need a TV cable. Can this be true?? Also can I use a regular ratchet shifter just to put the AOD in drive or do I have to buy one of the special ones??

Better check with B&M. I'm not aware of anything like this. TCI i think has announced a valve body to just use the tv to set the shift points.Sounds like a fried trans waiting to happen.

    NOT TRUE.

The AOD absolutely requires a TV cable. And it must be set properly. Lokar (I think) makes what you need. If you don't run it, you will burn it up.

Hurst and B&M both make AOD specific adapters that let their ratchet shfters work. So you are good on that front.
