Dumb question, but does anybody know if dogs are allowed into the fair grounds. We are bringing our dog down with us so we don't need to find someone to watch her for 3 days, but need to figure out if she is allowed in or not. I know they aren't allowed in Pleasanton, maybe here too. I have always taken her to Paso, but maybe a problem in SM. :( I didn't see any info. on the fair grounds website that said they weren't allowed.

Car shows don't need dogs at them. Dogs like to pee on cars and if they gotta dump, they dump and not everyone picks up after their pooch dumps and then you got dog **** laying around.

If dogs are allowed, you should still leave fido at home.

I dont think dogs and car shows mix well..I know a guy that was very pissed off at a show last year 'cause some dog jumped up on the side of a guys Merc. and scratched the **** out of the door with its claws.
If its a "Purse" dog than it can stay inside your car. but walking a dog around a car show is asking for trouble.

Do your dog and everyone else a favor...leave him at home...
I'm sure your dog would rather have it that way too...

Dogs are like children ... some are well behaved and some ... well ... they are trouble ;) That said ... most larger dogs do NOT belong at a car show. Not everyone is a dog person and lots of folks are even afraid of dogs, especially large dogs.

My wife has a little dog ... and she loves it a LOT ... but if the trip is a overnight trip ... Bailey Sue goes to " Puppy Camp "

Most dogs are well behaved but I agree, leave them home. I'm not sure why but I have noticed people like to bring dogs to busy public gatherings. I have done a lot of trade fairs and still attend a few. Last summer I went to the one at the Buffalo roundup in Custer state park. It was busy and crowded and it was unbelievable how may people had frickin mutts on a leash. Even a few with 2 dogs. Now that's just what a crowd needs, your pair of flaming dufushounds on a leash. A little carrying dog is ok as long as he doesn't yap.

It's torture for animals at a car show.
The heat, strange sounds/smells/terrain/people....They react from fear?

A local show had a horrible incident years ago where a large pitbull attacked a spectator and scratched a car during the melee.Everybody "lost."
Nothing at all good about it.
The show doesn't allow pets of any variety as their insurance won't permit it.

Just looking at it from both sides...

I'm glad this is all coming out. Not that I am going to SM but I always envied the people that were able to take their dog to an event and have it behave. I guess I never really thought about it causing others discomfort. Some people would not think twice about bringing them because they go every where with the owners. That's sort of what makes the dog's temperament so well. Socializing is key but I understand that they are not wanted at car shows. Guess you guy's won't see ol' Bubba at any shows from now on.

Why does it always have to be a pitbull. Everytime I defend the breed another story pops up. Alright I am getting off topic. Leave the dogs at home is the answer.

I sure hope not. More and more people these days think that EVERYONE loves their dog as much as they do and take them eveywhere they go. Not evey store is Petsmart leave the dogs at home. And at car shows it is even worse, multiple dogs, dogs fighting, tripping over the dogs or the leash.

    Hey JeffreyJames,
It just was a pitbull. The owner thought the animal would be fine with the day in the park.It wasn't.
The confined environment and strangers closing in on it might've triggered the attack? Noone threatened the animal with violence. This was stated by the owner.
They're a fine breed of dog.I'm not picking on it;just relaying facts.
I'm sure you have many fond memories of those canines and may you continue to have happy times with pitbulls.

    I'm stuck with a black lab right now.A loving,but mentally-challenged mutt.
Wonder how red toenails and white paw-boots would make it look...

Just my opinion, but if people really love their animals they would not drag them to these events.
