im trying to figure out the rear tire and wheel combo on my 40 ford. im using the stockk rear end and want to put 235/75/r15 tires on the rear im thinking i can use 15 x7" wheels with a 4" backspace . have measured and measured untill im confusing myself. does anyone have experiance with this that can help me out, i dont want to spend all the $ and have something i cant use. thanks bill
I have a late rear (59 Ford 9") and with 7" rims fit 225x75x15" tires. I have enough room for 235's. I would suggest you scrounge up a rim and and old tire (they are pretty common) and try it first before spending the bucks. Vintake gets $75.00 or so for a rim if you can not scrounge one up.
hey thanks, i have measured and from the face of the rear brake drum to the spring shackle their is 5" clearance but then you have some degree of tire bulge it looks to be close, but figured one of you guys have been thru this already
