Ive got a 29 a I want to channel.Ive gone back and forth with this for probably 6 months but Ive finally made up my mind.I want to use the original rails in front of the cowl and then go to 2x3x120 behind if just to save a little extra room.I dont want to bring the rails in too much but I dont know if I should cut and move the subrails up and do it that way or what.Has anyone done this and saved pictures?Any advise?
My advise is to start with all new steel (2x3 or 2x4) and build a new frame that replicates the Model A frame in the front. It would be stronger and cleaner. Cut out the body sub frame set it the channeled hieght you are looking for and reinstall the body sub frame and floor. Sounds like a big deal, but is really fairly simple to do. It just takes a lot of welding and work.
And what about the bottom few inches of body?It will just be supported by the 2x3?Thats a good idea about replicating that front end. That would be much cleaner. Thanks alot
