Ok no offense to the californians but Im so sick of you guys having super nice weather and BBQs with all your cars. So Im looking into setting up a BBQ maybe for July. If there is enough interest I will get a park and have it there. All HAMB members only, but people can come in non-Hamb friendly cars if that is all they have. I wont discriminate. A car guy is a car guy. Im not going to get to crazy until I see if there is any interest in this. I think it would be nice to get to know more local people and see your projects/rides. Let me know, and If you are interested and not so local but wouldnt mind the ride, you are welcome to join also. Looking forward to hearing what ya think.
Have it the same weekend as the Cordova Traditional Drags...and there will be a few of OF NOT SO Local WI guys there!

What weekend is the Trad Drags? Ill definately look into setting something up then. Maybe even a cruise from Il into IA for the BBQ

Consider all costs including food at Cordova when voting. also the 21st will work. If it goes well Ill try and set something up again for Aug/Sep.

No way, I'm in Viola! The Maid Rite is LONG gone though, hate to say it but the best one was in Aledo, it's gone too but the Milan one is still there. I'm supposed to be on vacation the 21st, I might be able to get the Stude ready for a jaunt to 'Dova by then ( a whole hour away ), it won't be pretty but if I get there mosquitoes will NOT be a problem.
I realize Viola is long gone, I left the next town south of you back in 63. Used to stop there, and the one in Milan, when we used to go to Moline and E Moline to look for girls at Augustana, and nurses in E Moline. 7th street in R I, Used to terrorize Aledo a night or three. HellRaiser
I turned 8 in Sep. 63 so I doubt we crossed paths unless we rode out in front of you on our bikes LOL. Alexis or Burgess? Although Burgess isn't technically a town any more. Viola itself is just about long gone too, not much of what was here in '63 is left. If they blindfolded you and dropped you off in the middle of town without telling you where you were I doubt you'd recognize it. Right now we don't even have a gas station! They just started on a new Casey's Monday though.
Hey Gang, I was born and raised in Davenport, spent many nights cruising the "one ways" and crossing the bridge to Rock Island to find somebody to race! Also spent many a day at Cordova when the pits we still dirt and during the World Series of Drag Racing there was always a number of Schlitz beer cans hanging off of the back bumpers of the Chicago boys. However, I escaped Iowa in 1961 and went into the Navy and my first job when I got out was at Bell Auto Parts in Bell California. wow... lots of QC people across the nation. and I didn't mean to leave out MO. You guys are just a lost cousin hanging on down there, only cause you have PARTY COVE! OK so just having a HAMB bash at Cordova sounds like the plan. We will just have to mark off an area for Hamb'ers only. And if you can make both BBQs in one day Ill give ya my extra small block, but you have to drive it. NO FLYing. lol
well I plan on having something again in Late September. I am getting hitched on Aug 30th so Ill be out of town for the honeymoon, but I am hoping to have something either Sept 27th or Oct 4th weekend. I will set that up later if you guys wanna "budget" it in. I know what ya mean though, gas hit $4 this week for regular non ethanol blend. this is ridiculous. I should have put a 4 cyl in the truck instead.
