There's a semi-local spring guy that could reverse mine, but I thought if somebody makes 'em the car wouldn't have to be apart as long.

If you have a stock Model A rear spring and want to change just the main leaf to a reverse eye go to: www.a-springs.com They sell both versions of the main leaf with standard and reverse eyes. The roadster spring is different from the others and they have both available for 90.00 which is a great deal. They will also sell you a complete rear spring ***embly with stock or reverse eye main for about 250.00.The Posies main leaf will only work with a Posies spring-it can't be combined with original Model A leafs. If the original main leaf is in good condition, just reverse it yourself. First take the original leaf shape and draw the shape (chalk on the floor) then the two ways that it is done at home is either with something like a railroad rail on its side and a 5# hand sledge working your way the length of the spring an inch or so at a time until you reach the desired shape or my preference is with a hydraulic press again gradually working the length of the spring. The model A main leaf shape is not a smooth curve over the length so figure out first the areas needing change ((mostly over the middle third arched section as I remember). The first time I did it it took two p***es to get it right and about 40 minutes total time. In short, it is an easy job to do yourself and in true hot rodding fashion, no cost. LOL

A-springs has a good product, I have their 8 leaf reverse eye main. The main comes with bronze bushings as well. Shipping U. S postal priority was a 5 day deal from Ct. to NY for $11.75 insured. No boxing , just stickers on the spring and a taped piece of cardboard for the address label. I've received 2 and shipped another this way, without incident. Travis always returns phone calls, is very nice to deal with. I"ll buy from him again.
Post office is about to change the rating system this month or so, btw.

ok so i read the tech post (up above) by loudpedal.
i went outside (4 degrees today) kicked around in the snow found my original 34 spring. i let it thaw, washed it off. i then marked off lines with a stir stick (stir stick width) i put it in the press & started pressing a little at a time back & fourth on my lines. i then got braver put more pressure on it waaaalaaaa its reversed! ---- was NO five minutes though - more like 25 minutes! -- i was worried the spring would twist or break as i have no experience with this. i wasnt really worried cause the spring was s**** anyway but now i have a nice useable spring.
    awesome tech post! :D

Try locating a spring works that will roll the eyes. Last one I had done reversed the eyes, and dearch the main leaf , plus two. Lowered the rear 3 inches.

Whay are you messing around with a Model A spring? The oldest trick in the book is to throw a Model T rear spring in and be done with it. Easy, fast and cheap.

So is a T spring the same width as an A ? By putting a T spring on an A what do you gain does it lower it? Better ride? Thanks

OK front A spring looks doable. I will try one this weekend. How does one do it with the rear spring which has considerable more arch than the front. I can see trying the described method by loudpedal on the rear but you probably need a press of some sort. Hmmmm maybe I will build one with weekend. That was the best tech I ever read here.

The T spring fits perfectly and will drop the car a couple inches or more. You can remove some leaves if it's not as low as you want.

I remember my autoshop teacher having a friend and I re-arch a set of springs in that manor. We got it done but it wasn't always fun being the guy holding the spring while the other guy hit it with the sledge hammer.

For $50 or less, your local spring shop will put the old spring in a press & reverse it for you. They can also drop the arch to lower the ride height on your rod.

I found that a lot easier & safer than doing it myself.

Just went to my local spring shop to have eyes reversed, says "they can't do it anymore cause the Insurance Company will drop them". Another freedom down the drain along with rare burgers and dodge ball. Too dangerous for us to handle it. BARRESSE'

Time to find another spring shop. That's rediculous. Understandable, but rediculous. This process has been done for years and an experienced spring shop can do it and do it right.

Hope it works out for you.
