Been invited by a local guy to see his junk...a long time filled up garage of cars waitin to be restored..yeah,yeah,1 day...maybe!!
He has way too much anyway already, but was cool to take a look what's there...
Aprox 25 cars, but the most interesting to me were the white 54 Merc Sun Valley ,the 37 Chevy sedan delivery (first i've seen around here) ,Olds 59/60 coupe and the pink 59 Caddy coupe de Ville....
As usual no lights and was already dark....

Some quality time here...been formally invited for a dinner from a local friend,at his home..as you see he has some vintage tin,and seriously restored...rare stuff, really.
Not really Hamb oriented but the place was very pleasent and the cars too...
    Packards phaetons,Buick roadster,Dodge brothers Vicky,a 1903 Ford too...and a customized Van den Plaas Fiat 1912...cool shit around!
The Chevy 56 convertible seems to be out of place to me...
He told me he'll bring me to other werehouses to see other unrestored cars on of these days...can't wait!!!

Instead of coming over here to work they should start brining up the good tin to sell to us.

these last friend's cars are not for sale at any price...is very wealthy!
guess he has around 130 cars of these styles..all restored!

Love seeing all the old procars. Thanks again Sled - and Magnus on the assist.

  13. Well, I just finished going through all 34 pages, and I am stunned. Some REALLY awesome stuff. There's nothing else really to be said. Well, except; Have an As or Ts? Any body style, coupe, sedan, 3W, 5W, truck, phaeton, doesn't matter. Almost any condition will suffice.

Menacekustoms, glad you like it...yeah,lot of stuff still around, lot of fun to find it,ya know...

Yeah,we have many A's around...also T's but are more rare cause the pre-years...

But the problem with these cars are the guys who own em...cause they are "carcachas"=jalopys they think most of the times are worth it a fortune...or much more than the ral market value...

So,is always complicated to buy such cars...funny enuff,i get get cheaper the 35/36 3 windows than these A /T cars....

make no sense but ishow it goes..actually better for me,i prefer the 3w cars anyway....

once in awhile a good deal comes up,but rarely ...

just now was speakin with an old local friend and he just mentioned an 30/31 roadster for a reasonable price...i'll check it out soon..

dressed in tiki style are cool....

If this 58 was more/less complete was planning to buy ,but as is...gee,too many projects already.makes no sense to buy more...

There's a new law in Mexico which states that only 10 year old model cars can be imported from the U.S.
Can be viewed as bad news and good news:
Bad news: There may be more of an effort to revive and keep many of the classics already there.
Good news: Mexico wants to "stop the accelerated conversion of our country into the world's biggest automotive garbage dump."
There's a lot of valuable scrap iron sitting around.
Let's just hope that they don't go all "green" and start mandating that the old stuff gets crushed.

Custom, thanx for the updating but this only is nothin new here...since long time Mexico import has been regulated at the government max benefit...
If you import a 10 years old car for you upthere is already junk, and here can be used again and recycled somehow!
Or you can buy a brand new car also now,and fully taxed can be imported so the always present government gets the biggest profit..is the same shit !!

And unfortunately the news are all bad even here.. Price of iron went up a LOT cause the chinese want the scrap metal an they pay good bucks for it...
I hear very often taht that junkyard is gone, and daliy in the roads also some trucks are passin to collect metal all over the places...huge business dude!

Last but not least, economy is regulated with the US dollar...dollar drops,Mexico also collapses in all aspects.

In other words, there is NO money to fix all cars..most of the people sells cause they cannot afford em...Few fortunates (talkin in the globality)can play with the car hobby at good level,ya know..

A common story is, i hear the car guys they always take out the V8 engines to put the 6,cause is cheaper...well,makes me smile a bit,but hey..that's the way it goes here.

In the other hand there is also a lot of people which buys all new Suv's and Hummers..so,there gotta be good cash around too...

but for sure the chinese are buyin like hell the metal, even here...

    so,will see how it goes....

Sled there is supposed to be a DANA camaro in your area don't know if it's the same car posted? A guy told me about 8 years ago of a DANA camaro that the 427 was pulled and placed in an AMC Javelin? The body was still there with hood. The guy used the AMC only for dragracing. Tim

Tim,yep....the Dana 67 camaro is still alive and well, same car posted...
but accordingly to the history (from day 1) it has been ordered by a rich mexican guy from Dana and imported in Mexico for drag racing..
Luckily the car raced and survived, and stil in rust free conds today...
PM me,i have all infos you want....
actually that car is for sale,a friend o mine owns it since more than 25 years...
    he's rebuilding the 427 currently....sled

How hard is it to import back to the US? I would love to get something from Mexico besides cheap labor.

Converse, depends ...i used to bring myself some cars to US crossing the border and has absolutely no problem at all...
also sold a good number of cars to noted US dealers and was the same, straight and clean...
i cannot speak for everybody of course...but also i've heard to re-import Us made cars back to the USA also is free of import duties, not 100% sure...
i mean,i live in Mexico ...you guys should ask your customs about importing ,but generally i don't see any big deal...
after all are all Us made cars....and your laws are quite simple.
For sure when exporting the mex plates have to be given back and cancelled locally,to cancel the existence (virtually) of the car once exported.

  29. What a post! I have been to Mexico several times but I never ventured very far from the airport. Went on planned excursions in Monterey and took a cab downtown Puerta Vallarta. Spent the night in Toluca gettin' an airplane fixed. Best trip was to Puebla and Campeeche. I never saw any old cars anywhere. There are a bunch of retired west states cops living down south of Arizona somewhere, over towards the Baja Peninsula. I would love to have that '56 Mercury Monclair. I hunted one for years but all I saw was expensive as hell. If the old guy dies and his kin wants to get rid of it, I'd love to have it .... Thanks for the post .. great ... !

  30. This was an interesting 3hr read.....All I can say is that Sled is a good photographer and a very good story teller(not lies.stories).I had to stop after the first 10-12 pages and put my hip boots on....just wish he could have more direct in answering some of the guys questions..not evading them....Very knowledgable on old cars, with a few miscalls....But as he says twice thru this post"The donkey show must go on"
