well this is a shame. Well over 100 views and not a single reply. i guess you should have put fag, pink, gay or VW in the post so it would stay at the top. i'll put it back to the top bttt
Where do you drop the 20 spot? Paypal address. Count me in. Good post and to the point. Common guys, lets step up. $20 is a dinner. We miss those by wrenching all night. Give it up and turn a wrench in the name of the HAMB.!!!!
i hate to respond , i did a 35 dollar auction ,it is just what you expect to do ,some people just need to be reminded and yet they still think you are not talking to them
Thanks Grimlock............for pinning it to the top. Whats so funny is TimW is the only newbie to answer the call. But I already knew he was cool...........and a fellow DEUCE owner
I hesitate this replying to this post, but as a relatively "newbie" on this forum, I just wanted to add a few words. I really enjoy this place I stumbled upon. It's a great place and carries with it a wealth of information, and characters who keep things interesting and on topic. I usually read this every day for info, the cool pics, and some laughs. As someone who has posted on topic items from time to time as my modest, alright, meager base of knowlege allows, I too get frustrated when folks post off topic and silly posts, for I feel it takes away from this online forum. With that said I also get frustrated when the "regulars" complain about the "lurkers" or what have you, who post things with out introducing themselves, and now take issue with those who don't pay their "$20 bucks". Those who take on this, "we are holier than thou" stance, perhaps should stand back and look at things in a different light. First, this is a free site, you do not have to pay to recieve access to it. I really admire ryan and others for all they do, without them this would not be here for the public's enjoyment. I also agree that if able, folks who use this site to sell, and recieve info on a regular basis should feel abliged to donate back to the cause so to speak. But I also belive that those who do not or are not able to donate back to the cause should not have anything held against them. I, for one, will admitt that I have not partaken in a hamb auction yet, nor have I sent away for the magazine sub. (mostly because this is the first time I had heard of the said magazine, I suppose it is Jalopy journel.) At the same time, when, if, I see an auction for an item I need, or have the extre cash for a mag subscript, by all means I will do that. With all this said, maybe I do not have a leg to stand on, since I do not explicitly support the hamb with cash, but I do know that I support it with my readership, "meager" knowlege and imput from time to time, and in some way I think that myself and many like me help to make this site the success that it is. I would, like to close by thanking all that make this site possible, and I hope that someday I can give back too!
retro, we have all heard the usual FNG gripes before. I have been here for longer than my registration date shows and I can tell you, don't start a flame war on this thread. Send RACEFAB the ca$h and be happy knowing you have helped.

You claim to already know how it works. Your choice.... This post started to help the HAMB..........there are NO free rides in life. Some one has to pay the bills or the HAMB will not be here for folks to enjoy. If everyone supported the HAMB with just their knowledge and input...from time to time.....the HAMB would be gone. There's always some who listen to the music and never drop money in the hat for the band when the hat is passed. They never buy a round either... Ryan NEVER asks for money in the hat....... I did.........for the engine raffle.
[ QUOTE ] Need Ryan or Grim to pin it up top. [/ QUOTE ] mmm, here we go again. Ryan and i talked a lot about this over tha last few months, this is exactly what we didnt want. NOBODY should feel pressured into sending any thing, i said i would build a raffle motor and i plan on it, the problem ryan and i have is that we decided it would be cool to do a non SBC mill, while we figured this would hurt ticket sales slightly, it would be something different, and hell you can always sell it off just ask LA32 this has led to a problem finding decent parts, i honestly could have built 2 SBC comparable to last years for what we have gone thru trying to round up parts finally after much discussion we thought we would put out a post to help us locate some needed parts, i didnt want to do this because of the shit storm it created last year, but we decided to try it and see what would happen. Ryan on the classifieds ,me on the main board, we figured with the amount of people reading this board ,we would be able to locate some decent stuff and BUY it. i do appreciate all the offers for help.any monies recieved will be put directly into the engine, but do not feel obligated to so! I really didnt want to have to respond to this kind of post again this year, AND I REALLY APPRECIATE DUECE'S help, he jumped right on board. but i wish whoever pinned this to the top would contact me via PM or e-mail. its gonna be a cool lttle small block ford, and i cant wait to haul it out there anybody sending anything my way be aware that my zip code is 98296 Fred
forget about the shitstorm racefab, the guys that wanna help do, and those that dont wont... `nuff said! My $20's in the mail!
It really wasn't my place to say anything, and now, I am sorry that I stirred somthing up, that was not my intent, I'm sorry guys. It really is the greatest board like this out there, and a shadow shouldn't be cast over it. I appologize.

No problems here...................you are entitled to your own opinion of what's happening and only you know your finances. No one should feel obligated...................and that was not my intention. I simply started this post so newbies and those who did not know how the HAMB was supported............would know. When I joined..............I wondered about all the raffles, auctions and donations. Then someone else explained it to me...... Be Cool.............
I'm not sure how many of you are aware of the fact that Racefab caught all kinds of shit from some hambers(note little hamb not worthly of full HAMB status) last year over his donated raffle mill. They made all kinds of bullshit claims that he was doing it for a profit and such bullshit. Racefab is a helluva stand up guy. To have folks say that kinda shit about him, and have the pride to put it past him and do it again this year, again outta his pocket (his plan before other HAMBERS decided to help him out) shows what kinda guy he is. I'm glad to call him a pal. This is why he was hesitent to ask for help or parts on this mill. Just so you know.....
I'm a new guy who's was a lurker for a while. This web site has given me the final push to finaly get my first custom project. I've been so obsessed over on the classified side I haven't even noticed that there was no ads on the board.... I'm mailing off 20.00 today, and will start biding on some of the stuff that gets donated to the cause..Thanks to all that have made this site a great sorce of info and help for us newbies.
I think retro54 has a point, and im seriously thinking on leaving this forum. Because i dont want to be forced into anything, and ive already contributed by attending raffles here on the Hamb, this year. And now im wondering? Can someone tell me how much i should pay (contribute) per year to get the possibility to contribute with my knowledge and get knowledge from other Hambers??!!

[/ QUOTE ] Nobody should feel obligated...............that has already stated. This started as a information post........to inform those who did not know how it works... You know how, have done what you could and that's the end of the story.....as far as I am concerned. Read some of the prior to your posts.............. some did not and now they want to help.......that's cool too No Body has to donate. Those who do ..........can signed, Not really a trouble maker..........Deuce Roadster
Mr42,Nobody is forcing you to contribute any more that what you are comfortable with.I have enjoyed your posts and consider them a nice contribution to the board. This is just a request for anyone who is Willing & Able to help out.I usually contribute about what I used to spend on magazines in a year because I am a computer dumbass and don't have the wearwithall to photo, write and compose a nice tech post.I guess it is up to the individual to decide if they making the contribution that is right for them....Charlie
don't know if it will be too late but i get paid on the 1st (got to love the VA) i will be sending the 20 out. even though i am still a newbian and i haven't got my ride yet (if i could just sell that damn datsun in the garage!! ) the vast knowledge i have attained here is pointed me in the right direction. i want to say a big thanks to all that have helped me in furthering my knowledge with getting me closer to obtainig my ride.
Bla, Bla, Bla... If you REALLY want to contribute to the HAMB, contribute to the forum topics in a meaningful way. Don't post BS. Ask real questions. Give updates on projects. That makes the HAMB rich.
[ QUOTE ] contribute to the forum topics in a meaningful way. [/ QUOTE ] amen to that.participate in the real world too, while your at it.we have hambers all over the world, and most people on here could find other hambers within 50-100 pretty easily.i know i'll go damn near anywhere for some B-B-Q and the chance to learn more about old cars and hang out with like-minded folks-george
I definitely agree with the help out however you can credo. I joined the HAMB less than two months ago and happened to come across something of interest. So I auctioned it and nabbed the board $50! Do what you can do, folks. -taylor
I hear everything you old timers are saying. In a way, I'm an old timer too... And older member with very few posts. A little skinny on funds right now, hell, I don't even have a project I can call my own. BUT. I read about Sean Howard, and felt compelled to post an auction for his medical fund. AND I bid on another auction for the same fund. (Hope I win it! Cool shift knob.) I have learned a tremendous amount of info, and even though I'm mostly a lurker I plan on contributing to this board. I don't have much to contribute in the way of knowledge or experience, but I've started a HAMB Tech Archive to make sure that the knowledge passed along on this board will continue to be passed on as long as possible. I work nights, and after the requisite 3 or 4 hours of real "work" I end up here. Reading, learning, and more reading. I don't know but maybe 2 or 3 of you personally, and even then not very well ('cept bro Shortbus), but I feel that I'm reading about family. All the info is PRICELESS (tm) and I hope to apply it very soon. Excuse the rambling, but that's what 3 or 4 Meyer's and Pepsi's will do to ya!
Hell, the point is, contribute when you can or if it strikes ya. Iffin ya cant, none of us will think less of you! i bought a Rodders Journal #7 a couple years ago for $140. I really didnt have that money but it made me feel good to help the HAMB. I havent bid on an auction for over a year (at least one I wanted to win). Ryan NEVER asks for money, but the truth is this place needs it to operate. The real #s would make you shit. We use more bandwith than any 10 hotrod sites on the net. Add all the magazines, they dont come close to the bandwith of the HAMB. I feel proud to give when I can!!!!!!
