I thought I heard on an Interview that Harrison Ford now owns 7 planes. Hes an avid pilot. Glad I started this thread a lot of thought provoking on the old cars and period correctness. There is always risk of getting off-topic with this type of post and discussing the movie and plot and what not itself. I didnt go anywhere near that, and dont care too. Just thought the opening scene was cool as all get out. Never caught the radials on the shoebox, guess I'll know what to look for on DVD.
If you try this site www.dhc-2.com there is a link to a do***entary called "The "Immortal Beaver" which includes a lot of footage on Harrison Fords "Beaver", and a cool resto on another one.
I haven't seen the movie yet but will very soon. Which is cooler, Milner's rod in Lucas' "American Graffitti" or this hot rod?
You can watch that opening scene and the entire movie on www.bedroommedia.com kinda of dark in some scenes but you can check the deuce over and over at no charge.
Latest issue of AOPA mag has about 4 pages (p72) about Ford and his aircraft to include a pic of his Beaver. Takes his flying seriously.
I thought the movie was great, I loved the hot rod scene at the beginning. The duece handed it to the Ford, they were playing around, that was not a serious race. but I loved it
It was just a movie. I paid $7 to have two hours of fun and entertainment and I got my money's worth. I liked the car race, didn't car about period correctness. As for the the aliens-of course it was silly. You thought the ark thing was real? Just a movie-I had a good time.
Yep, not that anyone found it but it does exist, The Ark of the covenant is in fact a historical and biblical item. Finding it was pure fiction, but I also really enjoyed the first Indiana Jones movie,"raiders of the lost ark"
I wonder who the stunt driver of the bike was. He was throwing that bike around pretty good even with a p***enger in the back. And yes, the opening hot rod scene was killer!
I think he supplied all the bikes. If you think the Harley looks like *** in the movie, you should have seen the ones supplied by Harley before he "fixed" them! It would have been no problem for my pal to supply a perfect fifties Harley for the movie, (he builds and restores vintage bikes) and he tried to do just that. But H-D made some deal with Paramount, and insisted on the new bikes. Worst of all, they sent out a press release claiming they built the bikes and did all the on-set wrangling and repair. I've always thought Harleys were ********, but that ***hole move just showed what kind of numbnuts run that company. **** Harley, buy an old Brit bike instead.
