Need some info on putting disc brakes and a dual chamber m/cylinder on my 49. Part numbers and who sells the brackets would help. I know scarebird sells the brackets but was wondering if anybody else does too. Thanks
not cheap-- http://www.jamcosuspension.com/products/sfID1/8/productID/431 or get yourself a speedwaymotors catalog, they have a bunch of different setups, brackets, and such that possibly you could make your own kit www.speedwaymotors.com
I just bought the scarebird part for my 50 Caddy, plus everything else needed for the conversion "off the shelf new" from NAPA/Autozone (except the MC). If you want, I can itemize it so you can cost compare.
I did read that thread but I do not want to use a firewall mounted m/c. Revershalo that list would be awesome, what m/c did you use, and did you keep yours under the floor? Thanks
These are straight from the parts list supplied by scarebird along with the adapters, purchased new: Scarebird adapters $165+$14 S/H = $179.00 NAPA 20996 brake line hose (x2) = $27.88 NAPA 5433 brake line hose (x2) = $54.33 NAPA 5931 brake line hose (x2) = $44.62 NAPA 242-2011 76 Eldorado calipers + core deposits = $65.36 NAPA SS728A disk brake pads = $24.19 NAPA PBR3 bearings (x2) = $8.78 NAPA PBR5 bearings (x2) = $9.98 NAPA 19784 seals (x2) = $5.98 NAPA Tub o'bearing grease = $6.98 NAPA Shipping for the hoses = $10.00 NAPA Dust cap (x2) = $4.78 Autozone 350673 1999 Chevy Silverado rotors (x2) = $139.12 Autozone metric lug nuts (x10) = $16.90 Total = $597.90 I haven't gotten the MC yet. I'm planning to use whatever the author of the tech article (posted previously) used or recommends, so figure another $100. Of course, the rotors and calipers can be obtained more cheaply. I'm installing the new brakes in a couple weeks. I'll post how that goes.
Oh, and I'm guessing the stock wheels aren't going to go back on, so those will definitely be coming from the salvage yard...$20.
