I need specs for a cam I have .....tried to contact Crower several times. Cam is a SBC stamped 90R "killer". Also wondering what the valve lash was they called for. Thanks Root
I sure do! They do not list a 90-R cam... but according to the rest of the roller cams listed... the 90 more than likely has to do with the Duration... as in 290 degrees duration... and the R stands for Roller... Fir instance... a 65-R camshaft for a SBC is 264 degrees duration and the lift is .480... that's a roller cam, now. And a the 87-R is 284 degrees duration and .510 lift... they also have dual pattern cams... like a X-600R which is 290 degrees on the intake and 310 on the exhaust.... 290+ 310 = 600... I'd guess x stands for dual or split. They also have a 100-R which is 320 degrees duration and .525 lift. I don't know how they made the connection... from 100-320... but they did. Also, they also list a 70-R for a Mopar and it has 272 degrees duration... If I had to guess... I'd say your cam has 292 duration on the intake and exhaust... and somewhere around .515 lift... it probably makes power from about 4000rpm to 7000... if you can get your hands on a degree wheel, a magnetic base and a dial indicator... you can check the lift, lobe separation etc. FWIW, if you can get ahold of Bruce Crowers home number... and call him, he'd be able to help you out... I think his kids aren't into the history and old stuff... Sam.
I tried to get the specs for the cam that was in my SBC from Crower Some time ago. I had to try and talk to a disinterested, and very unhelpfull person. If they dont care about theyr product after it is sold, then why should I? That was the last Crower cam I'll ever buy.
I just talked to Bruce's son in law and he said to talk to Cary Novak over at Crower. He would know the Specs.Hope this helps Harrell
I sent a letter requesting the name you posted. Hopefully that will work. If not...it's NASTYGRAM time.
Here's their reply. REED OLIVER SAYS WE MADE THIS 40 YEARS AGO BUT DOES NOT HAVE ANY INFO ON THIS SORRY KERRY
I found a Crower 100r for a 409 up in the rafters. 320/525 sounds about right. Will check if I can find the dial indicator.
I know this is a real old thread, but I just bought an 88T solid roller crower cam and would love to find out the specs too??
I always loved my Crower cam in my Mopar,,,super good quality and great people to work with,,,although that was some time ago . Drumyn29,,,,,I will try to look for you in my catalog,,,I will look later tonight if possible. My catalog is from the mid 80’s,,,,it might show something for you . Tommy
