Have bought and sold lots of quality cars. From traditional customs to high-end street rods. Always have one car that stays in the corral. 1951 Chevy flatbed radical custom. rear -engine, tilt bed, awesome truck I built over 20 years ago. Sold it and bought it back three times. Not for sale anymore. Has won Goodguys, been featured in Street rodder, Rod and Custom, Custom rodder, Truckin, Truckin Classic Trucks (cover), etc....Its getting ready for a facelift the end of summer. But my first love will ALWAYS be tradition customs. Built way they were meant to be!
hey dave just got your email. i'll try to resize the pics for you and get them up here.welcome to the site. oh yeah were is the required naked pics of your lady ?
ok here's a pic of the truck for you dave, now before anyone says anything about were's the primer or red wheels don't give him shit cause this thing will probably whup your ass, and it was owner built more than 20 years ago.
Thanks! Under the hood is the battery, custom made gas tank, and a polished firemans air tank that lifts the bed.
I absolutely love that truck! I think the first time I saw it was in HotRod, it was black and had big-ass M/T rubber under the rear. I saw it again in Street Rodder a few years later. I've wanted to build one like it for quite a while now, but with a steel bed. A few years ago I made a serious effort to build a late 60's chevy truck with a Eldo drivetrain, but it fell through. Anyhow, welcome to the board!
[ QUOTE ] Right now this is my beater. Drive it everyday. Have nearly 90,000 miles on it. [/ QUOTE ] How have the upper ball joints held up with the springs mounted on the upper arms? How much did you narrow the arms (if any?). I've always wondered about the top mounted springs... I was planning to mount coil-overs on the lower arms, but springs on the uppers makes more sense...
Great memory! It used to be vlack with red flames and it had 18.5 inch wide Mickeys on the back. the big tires being non-radial made the truck wander all over the road with the independant rear, so smaller radials went on.
Have had no problems with the upper ball joints. The A-arms are stock and not altered, and the coil springs are 1970 Cadillac front coil overs in homemade spring towers. They handle the weight perfectly with tons of travel
