Pontiac ID help

  1. I posted these pics here a while ago and I recently went back to look at this car, I still cant fiquire out what model it is. I know it is a Pontiac convertable, its in rough shape but very saveble. I am trying to work out a deal with the owner, he kinda knows what it is, but he is not sure. It was placed in this shed 30 years ago and hasn,t moved since, its just collecting the dust. Interior is in tact eventhough the top is ripped. Sorry about the ****py pics, I can't get the door open wide enough to get my fat *** in to really check it out.

Oh yeah, it has SPRINT decals on the front fenders behind the front wheels.

I will have to get some better pics next time I am there. I am gonna have to open the hood too see if there are trips under there, the suspence is killing me.

I'm going with Le Mans. Write down the VIN and run it.

An OHC 6 with a quadrajet, split exhaust manifold, and a hot cam. Not a bad runaround car these days--even the Sprint versions got decent mileage if you could keep from peeling out from every stop sign. Mine would get 22-23 mpg in everyday driving.

Heathen's right, 6-banger OHC Sprints are cool, well engineered cars. They were Pontiac Engineering's 1st attempt to get around some of the GM corporate & insurance rules for muscle cars.
They seem to be worth about the same as a Lemans convertable, which is not the same as the GTO, so do some research & bid accordingly.

sounds like their is no ***le? check the tag on the firewall drivers side and that will tell for sure. i wouldn'y give the guy a dime until he could prove he legally owned the car. get the vin# off the drivers door post and see who legally owns the car.

  8. Wher the hell did that comment come from? Maybe you have to worry about that with the peoples you run with but no worries here.

  9. Well from initial research it looks like it is a 67 LeMans sprint with the 215 OHC 6 cylinder. It seems to be a rare option and even rarer with a convertable. Anyone have exact production numbers?
