After two weeks of looking at overpriced wrecks I found this on the side of the road last friday. It's the cleanest 73 GMC on the planet! Fianlly a good truck, with a little soul, for towing and parts hauling. 69,000 original miles on the 350/350 combo, new a/c converted to 134a, 4 new tires, new battery, hoses, belts! It was weird driving her home and trying to go over in my head all the things I need to do when I git there (got to fix the so and so switch, better go pick a new thingamajig so it'll pass inspection...) and realizing it needed nothing! I really happy with this addition to the fleet.
I can't explain why, but I LOVE the lines on those 73-8??? GM pickups. WAY better looking than the previous body style, IMO. Good score!
Yeah, I love those lines as well, I got me a '81 chevy pickup. It's beautiful and I love to drive it. It's efficient, but there's not much to 'em. That's what's so great about those.
73-87 chevy trucks! one of the best rigs ever manufactured, only drawback to them beauties is there abiltity to disintegrate before your eyes due to poor metal and or rust I sold my 88 GMC 4 wheel drive for 1,100.00 so I could by an old rusty 79 Chevy 4 wheel drive about a month ago, she rides like a tank compard to the 88 but its twice the truck
[ QUOTE ] only drawback to them beauties is there abiltity to disintegrate before your eyes due to poor metal and or rust [/ QUOTE ] Nope, there's ONE other drawback. Emissions tests. Othewwise I'd have one.
Good score! Clean low mile's,GMC. My too new for old school '77 is brite blue,455 Old's and tubbed. No tailpipe snifer's around here.Enjoy that sharp truck.
Cool Krupa! Those things are great parts haulers. Get an LMC Motors catalog. They sell EVERYTHING for those trucks.
Wow. That IS my daily driver! Can't afford a real ride, so I've gone with an '81 CUSTOM deluxe. (Notice the useage of the word CUSTOM). Nothin' custom about it, believe me.... Gets me around. Paid off the wife's SUV this month, so's I'll be upgrading. Hmmm, that '63 Rivi would sure make a nice daily driver....
[ Nope, there's ONE other drawback. Emissions tests. Othewwise I'd have one. [/ QUOTE ] No Emissions tests in Texas! I still can't belive how clean this hauler is, and she pulls trailers with heavy 51 chevys very well. Found that out this past weekend. I'm gonna have to take some more pics when the rain stops and y'all have to see the inside of the cab. It's nuts the kind of shape it's in.
[ QUOTE ] what about the poor camaro? you going to put her out to pasture. [/ QUOTE ] Poor camaro? poor me! That things kept me greasy for two weeks straight, can't wait to see it go. Really it's been a pretty good $800 car for the past year and a half. I did it's duty. It'll be sitting at the house waiting on it's new mullet owner. It still runs fine, registered and inspected, so I sould be able to get what I paid for it. Then use that money for exhaust and a few other things for the 51 chebby.
Those are some of the best lookin trucks GM ever made, my dad had his 79K5 Blazer for 18 years, we still miss it. They are a great vehicle and holy crap was ours reliable. Nice job picking up that pickup! Greg
[ QUOTE ] Congrats on the truck. So I guess you might be able to haul a cherry picker up to Round Rock? [/ QUOTE ] You got it man, let me know.
Great Score Krupa...! Looks as though that beauty stayed away from the Gulf and should last a hell of a lot longer than east coasters or upper midwest trucks! Hope this one won't die in the middle of I-35 during rush hour like the Camaro did...! Mark

[/ QUOTE ] Man, that would be a pretty short haul from my shop to Kustom55's place. Let me know when you need to use it. By the way, I got to see Krupa's truck this weekend. It is a super cherry piece. One of those trucks we all dream about buying from a little old lady.
Thanks kurpanut and hotwheel. I will keep everyone informed. I might have a engine pulling party soon .....need to buy a engine stand first though....
I know where you can get a visor and some WWW's for that thing...! How's the 51 doin...? Did you dump the Camaro yet...? Later Mark
Think a visor will look ok with my new lift kit? The 51's getting there with big help from Hotwheel. It's over at Reggies shop right now, he's welding the tranny cross member he fabbed up for it good and soild. Reggie does great fab work, I would have most likey giving up on the car by now if it was'nt for his help. The camode is up for sale. First $800 takes it.
[ QUOTE ] No Emissions tests in Texas! [/ QUOTE ] Well now that's not strictly true but certainly not one for your new ride. But everything '80 and newer has to have an emissions test to pass inspection. Nice truck! Looks almost new with the rain on it. You central Texas guys have all the luck with clean, old trucks. Most of the ones down here are rust buckets.
Just give the Camode to Reggie for working on the Chebby...! Oh..., I guess not..., he'd feel slighted in that deal...! Should sell quick though...! Mark
Congrats on the Jimmy. I picked up a 77 Blazer last year and thought about a GMC front for it. A nice driver for the wife and myself. Our first car with power steering!
