I finally had a chance today to pull my AV8 coupe out in the daylight to snap a few pics. I have been working hard on this thing since January. As some remember this was once a sport coupe and I wrestled with not changing the car but ultimately I decided that a 5W coupe was what I really wanted. So I learned metal work from a local metal guy here in Colorado and then grafted the roof on. Here is a little progression of when I brought it home in California ( bottom left pic with white walls and tuck in roll interior from the '50s)to the finished car you see today. Was all the work worth it?
*****in man! i just got a sport coupe body last week......................getting a roof tomorrow!!!! you nailed it, thats a *****in hotrod man! -jordan
Really nice, I would have never known it started life as a Sport Coupe unitl I got down the pictures at the end...........................Great Job of converting it!
Thanks for the coments and encouragment guys! I had a rough day at work and this made it all better. Maybe I should go for a drive? I will post some pics of the roof fitment as requested.
Ya gotta love the look of a "no frills" hot rod. Plain and simple, just the way they were meant to be. You did a great job of capturing the look. I really dig it. Do you have any interior shots?
Here are some of the roof fitment pics and few interior pics. The interior is a stock seat with a '39 Banjo and '39 shifter, SW gauges and a homemade column drop. The dash has the orignal crusty chrome plating from the '50s. This is a very basic Hotrod, the way they were built in the 1940s-1950s. Some kid has a Model A and finds a wrecked '40 Ford in the junk yard and does the swap. '40 motor and trans, brakes, steering etc. The way it was and the reason I like this car so much " no frills".
Dude...that's so cool! If you didn't post the before pic,I think most guys wouldn't know it was a Sports Coupe before....nice work!
