Can you imagine the IRONY if dr chucky's Impala made a bunch of mags, won a bunch of awards and was acknowledged by the top dogs in the rod industry as being ingenuitive and cutting edge? I would roflmao for hours....

BTW: I always thought that Nova was kinda neat...

I think the car looks sinister as fuck!!! Roll hard. Love your Ride. And if others got a problem tell them to bitch about it to their wives not you. But fuck lexan. hold out and get the window sanded down. Even if you have to buy a couple windshields. (they don't all have to be new)

I think the car doesn't look any better than stock. The craftsmanship seems to be good, but more time should have been spent in the planning stages. Maybe a few drawings would have been appropriate.
It I was trying to make a custom like yours I would have just flaked the roof or some wild panel paint job.
Wait a minute I would never do that! I would have found a 409 and a four speed and some taller front springs and pie crust slicks.
Maybe you oughta rethink your signature.

Is this a chopped 62? I can't really tell the way it's sitting in the pic. Maybe not. Either way, the door handles are shaved. Who would think of defacing a beloved 62 Imp like that!?

Sorry! I had to do it. Looks good...

  9. Most likely because your cars, whether you did the work yourself or not, have great proportions. Whether you like the chopped look or not, that's what it's all about.

I think this guy is getting so much shit because he cut the hell out of a car with really nice stock proportions, then it occurred to him that glass might be an issue (see other thread). I can't begin to think of how much planning went into the glass on your '57 Buick.

In my opinion, most any early 60's GM product had pretty choice proportions that I wouldn't care to change. Seems like a waste to me...that's just me.

Now I am the idiot bringing this back up to the top...oh well.

FWIW in one of the Fonz threads (Joe Carloni of NJ) there are pics that DirtyestDevil posted about Joe chopping an early 70s Nova. Looked freakishly like the one pictured. Ill have to dig it up later and see if I can post it here, could there be two?!? :D

This was posted on the site where I found the Nova pics...

"Thanks to the person who posted these photos. The car in the photo was a 1973 Nova built by my father Randy Snyder who was a well known, regional and national award winning custom car and custom motorcycle builder based out of Syracuse NY. He passed away from cancer in 2001. Randy Snyder built the car for original owner Rick Benz in the mid 1980's. The car is currently in as-seen condition and is currently owned by an individual in New Jersey. The car is still driven daily and is accasionally shown in autoshows. It is a 1973 Nova. Tailights are dark maroon plexi with honeycomb backing. Original tailight vertical center bar is removed. All drip rails and trim on the car was removed and frenched. Rear bumper is 1968 camaro and has been shaved, filled and chromed. Front hood is louvered and combined with nose valence. Belly pans and returns are handmade/hand rolled steel. Front bumper, directionals and valence are from a 1970 Dodge Charger and are hand fitted, headlights are late model chevy van headlamps and the grille is (I forget - sorry). The top of the car was chopped and lowered and the back glass is original uncut, laid flat and frenched. All operable hardware was replaced with elecronics with remote. Motor and drivetrain have been removed and reworked since the movie, replaced with modern built motor, Tuned Port Injection and new trans. The car took many hundreds of hours to fabricate over the course of two years. Studio workers for Brian DePalma spotted the car at the Hershey Pa car show and cast it in the movie."

  13. The desired effect isn't,"Hey, look, it's chopped," but,"Hey, look, I don't know exactly what it is about that car, but it looks great."

I'll tell you what, with the correct paint job this could be a sweet ride...as is, with the "standard" cookie-cutter rat rod look...it's cool, just not killer.

Guys around here are buying nice, some restored, Model A coupes, and making rods out of them. They were prefectly good cars. Even though they might now be nice rods, I guess they are assholes too, according to you.

    FU, I'm chopping mine.

Dude totally different! Like just about everyone else said the 62 proportions are about perfect. Even when lowered. Now take a stock model 5 window and lower it nice and take off the fenders and suddenly the roof looks too tall for the body. It is even more evident when you get the rear tire above the body line for the fenders.
I think a total stock model a is a good looking car but when lowered a ton they look kind of odd.

last time i checked ,people were free to talk all the shit they want to to me,,but when i say something to someone in a lil clique i'm the bad guy,,fuck that,,,

the only problem i had,,is him totally shitting on this dude with the 62. go back to the other thread and then read all of this one..he is great at dishing it out,but aparently cant take it very well,(as he would tell me....:))

it's really a shame,,so many people here (including myself) have no desire to post up their projects anymore due to others totally ripping them apart...

yeah,,the whole "you shouldnt post up a pic without expecting negative comments"
    is pure bullshit...
