Just picked up a '57 Chevy 3100 here on the H.A.M.B. Looking for info(what rear-end?), sources(bushings, kingpins, etc), & perf. options for these trucks. It's all orig. 235 / 4 spd. , a little rough but I believe I can save her. I'd like to keep the drive-line that's there as I plan on turning it into a daily driven shop truck. Thanks in advance.
Likely has the Corporate axle unless it was swapped due to breakage. They are hard to find parts for so many of them have been ditched for 10 and 12 bolt rearends. Parts suppliers: Jim's Chevrolet Sacramento, CA http://www.jimschevroletparts.com Golden State Pickup Parts Orange, CA (I think) www.gspp.com Impala Bobs Classic Chevy Pickups http://www.classicchevywarehouse.com/ LMC Truck http://www.lmctruck.com/ There are more, but these are the main ones I use...
i've used classic parts and their prices and service seem pretty good. http://www.classicparts.com/default.asp
