I don't know about everybody but all the threads about gas mileage,,,late model budget **** boxes and daily drivers,,,I'm wondering when the main focus of the HAMB changed?

The thread about Batterys was locked and the thread about daily drivers went on and on,,,,,even to the point of showing hondas and other forbiden ****,,,,

I want my ol' HAMB back,,,,:( HRP

True, but at least we could talk about cars from the years that are considered traditional, even if we can't agree on what we use to build them. I ,personally, wpuld be happy if gas topics were banned along with religion and politics.

I was surprised at those posts too even though I answered one. Screw this new **** and lets get back to what we're all about. That's why we are here and that's what we do

I must admit though, I have found some of the discussions interesting.

I still have a modified running around in my head & the thought of some of these off-the-wall, high MPG, 4cyls has been great daydream fodder. Truth be told though, I've probably been more interested in some of those because of the short $$ & good availability involved than actual MPG benefits.

I'm much more excited about the dual 97's that I just put on the '38 though. Just a little more tinkering should have me back on the road soon.

I'm on board with HotRodPrimer.........I see so many off topic stuff on here that is just taking up bandwidth........

I am also not happy with all of the personal threads.......don't people on here have a real family and friends to talk about the trials of daily life?

    Fire away.....

Yeah, we ought to. I can read about Priuses (Prii?) on Huffington's Post (that site makes me vomit). If there must be a focus on MPG, then it ought to be getting the most horsepower out of the most MPG.

Hmm, sounds like a compe***ion. Who can squeeze the best MPG out of a 200 HP flattie?

Ok back in the 60's I put togeather a 59A/B for my pick up I had the heads and intake polished. Two 97's cromed. It was put togeather by a local bilder, he safty wired every thing. A 39 top load with Ziffer gears, and a valvit touch clutch. Best thing of all I still have it.

I'm with you- this must have been what it was like to be a gearhead in the seventies.
You want 60mpg and have your ****ing car smelling like a wet french fry fart from burning biofuel, go to mother earth news. I like hot rods.

Unfortunately ... opinions of what is traditional depends on when you started driving and messing with cars ... or when you were born. I view your 32 pickup as " Traditional " but with a SBC, automatic and A/C ... it does not fit some others views of traditional. Theirs may be Model A, Flathead with a 39 topshift and closed driveshaft rear end. I see lots of threads on 49 to 54 Chevys ... Some old Falcons, Valients and Novas ... of the early 60's and other vehicles that would not fit in the " traditional view " of the first 2 groups.

To me ... this is TRADITIONAL :D

Agreed. seems like a totaly diffrent place and iv only been here 2 years. Its always the same ol thread about

Crying about yards crushing ****box cars
    S**** prices
people reactions to us driving old cars
    Gas issues
    End of hot rodding? posts
    Memorial posts

And its not the fact that "if you dont like it dont read it" but people always have to have a clever ***le Not post related that makes me open the thread only to find out that im wasting my time.

Now I know my idea of a website where a person, who after registration, can complain about anything they want with no repercussions. Oh wait, that's craigslist. I totally agree.

I think Waydar's posts on the Temptation is a cl***ic. It's worth the effort to ignore a slew of posts to catch that one.

When I first joined here, the people on here flamed the **** out of the stupid posts. Either you got "it", or went to a "friendlier" message board.

Do a search tommy. :) What HAMB are you complainers looking at? Because every time I see one of these whiny posts I take a close look at the first couple of pages which equals about 70 threads with my settings. And I see one thread started by Boones asking about cars that get good gas mileage. There is another about building a traditional car that will get good mileage but I don't think it is full of Toyotas so it doesn't really count. So that is effectively ONE THREAD out of seventy. And I'm not even sure what Boones' thread has in it. Would you like to know why? Because I've never opened it... it doesn't interest me.

I agree with everything said above.

I'm a new member and and I'm already bored with the OT posts.

The easy answer would be to have a section on the site for OT posts.

My answer is I have started reading the HAMB in reverse order there are some great threads in 2003

Let's just cut to the chase, and ask Ryan to ban all whining and complaining posts all together. Just stop the f'n whining and complaining, make the best of what you got, build and enjoy some kick *** traditional cars and lets keep the focus on that and the good things, and forget the negative ****. I play with old cars to enjoy it, not hear about everybody's problems.

Think of the thousands of "rules" there'd have to be to define and limit talk to "traditional". No talk of alternators, even on an 8BA in a 3-window? No electronic ignition talk? No radial tires? Where do you draw the lines? Seems like the only one to draw those lines is Ryan, and he seems to be allowing a pretty liberal interpretation of what's acceptable.

I agree on the personal posts, maybe Oprah has a site those could go on??

  25. Guys....

The HAMB is about traditional hot rods and kustoms, but it is also about PEOPLE.

And people, my dear friends have personalities. And those personalities often feel the need to express themselves, whether its about gas prices or Memorial Day, as well as traditional rods and kustoms.

If you don't approve of a thread's intended meaning or scope, then don't read it. Its called freedom of choice - and we ALL need/want freedom of choice.

Yes its a trad site (and I LOVE my trad ****)....but surely we havent become THAT elitist that we can't discuss things that are a little outside the norm??

Picture in your mind a flattie, three quarter race cam (Isky) running dual Hollies with headers, the sound washing over you so subtle you can hear the 5/8" fan belt running around those pumps.....

There...... Feel better????.... No??? Try a Youtube search on the Tardel/Cochrane coupe. That'll make any rodder feel better...

Although Kevin Lee makes a fair point, I can also agree with the points about off topic and personal stuff. There has been a bit of self indulgent content lately. I havn't been around here long so can still remember Ryan's "read me first" message to newbies on the introductions page. Perhaps everyone should re-aquaint them selves with the philosophy of the HAMB as layed out in his message. This may reduce dissatisfaction and the need for whiny, off topic, complaint threads.

Damn Danny, some of us get tired talking about 32's. plus at least one of those mileage post was about what old cars get decent milage.

Kevin, as an FYI: my post was asking what early cars got good mileage.. not what cars in general (thou some folks did not read and posted modern stuff anyways but I tried to correct that by clarifying my request.... So to those that thought it was off topic, it was not meant to be, so mine should not count as a OT post. it was asking about what 60's rides got decent mileage and what it was..

I noticed just through today that there was a ridiculous amount of econo box garbage threads that were locked, I even started a thread to make fun of those about making my car pedal power and some people thought I was serious. where are the good threads about newly finished cars, car show pics or history of hot rodding threads.
